OP here.. yeah, it's not as nefarious as some of you think. It was a one time thing as I was with her when I realized my timeline and she simply said, here order on Amazon, I can get it sent in 2 days. That was the extent of it. I don't "use" her account and I honestly, haven't ordered from Amazon except for batteries and a home intercom system last year (on my account).
So yes, I learned a lesson and yes, she is really busy so to ask her to go out of her way to "fix" this is not right. It does annoy me that her neighbor used my money. I just have to let it go. And the item was recalled.. I didn't "not want it".. they sent a recall notice to return item. I may get my own Prime account.. but I don't really order from Amazon much. I do know if I did that, I would have just said "oops.. I'm so sorry... and quickly just replenished the gift card balance". Done in 5. But this friend and her neighbor won't do that out of just being busy and disorganized. I thought about using their credit card in system to buy my batteries for the exact amount each used of the gift card.. they probably wouldn't even notice... but that feels wrong. So live and learn. And I just paid her half of her Prime membership. |
| Wait, your friend explicitly said she wouldn't pay you back? |
Your sire insisted you break the rules, so it is ok? I am pretty sure anyone can get a free trial membership to prime at any time. They want you to try it. Then you can use it, cancel it, and not have to worry about using other people's accounts, |
Yes, which is one the few annoying downsides of Amazon. No, Amazon, I do not want to purchase TP with the $200 gift card I received from my boss. Maybe I'm weird, but when a get a large GC amount like that, I like to spend it on something frivolous and fun that I'd never buy myself. Neither your friend nor her brother were stealing your money, it's just how Amazon works. I'd email again and say, "Haha, I didn't realize Amazon automatically applied your GC balance to the next purchases. I'm going to send myself a GC from your account to my email for $X.XX, is this okay?" |
| I still can't believe anyone would just give out their amazon account password (with their credit card info) to 5 different people. That's so irresponsible! If some I know needed something, I would ask them to send me a link and I would purchase it for them, sending it to their address. I wouldn't give out my password! |
Yes, this. |
| Don't buy something for yourself and charge it to your friend's credit card as form of payment on Amazon!!!! That's illegal. And seriously low. |
| This is some Judge Judy level BS. |
