Busload of Lebanese Olympians refuse to let Israeli team on bus!

Yawn. Two irrelevant countries when it comes to the Olympics. Continue to fight among yourselves, children.

Ironically their first woman president is going to be impeached. The protests outside the stadium are anger to the interim president and his 60 yrs younger wife spending

Anyone who thinks the Olympics has anyone to do with sportsmanship is delusional. It is about a chance to make money for athletes from first world countries and a chance for athletes from other countries to obtain enough status in their country that they can get a decent job as a coach or even be able to practice their sport.

The ancient games were not about sportsmanship but about how the various city states could gain a competitive edge with their warriors/athletes Sparta was banned from the games for years because they wouldn't bathe.

If you want to live in the unicorn world a poster mentioned upthread, continue to believe that the Olympics are abut sportsmanship. And I have only mentioned the athletes not the bureaucrats associated with the games.

Ban the whole fucking country if need be. The Lebanese behaved like middle school kids in this incident, and they look pretty bad. Hopefully they will loose big time!
Middle school kids whose country has been bombed by Israel several times.

+1....I'm pretty sure if I were in their shoes I would throw sportsmanship to the wind as well. It's to judge from the comfort of cushy lives here.

There will always be troubles where the Muslims go...sad but true.
You moron - you do realize that Lebanon is 40% Christian, don't you?

Wow, you really don't understand what it means to be occupied by a foreign government. You're just an idiot.

Lebanon is 54% Muslim and 41% Christian

Moreover, the team appears to be overwhelmingly Christian -- though I believe the delegation head who blocked the door is Muslim. According to the delegation head, each team was assigned its own bus and he thought the Israelis were attempting to board the wrong bus. It is understandable that a Lebanese might overreact to a perceived attempt by Israelis to occupy someone else's place. They've had bad experiences with that sort of thing.

Wow. What a snide remark. If any of your posters made some anti-Muslim remark the way you just put doen Israel, you'd be out there calling them every name in the book.

Wow. You can't tale a break for the Olympics?

You do realize that most anti-Israel Lebanese are Christians? Catholics for the most part actually- there's plenty of Asian & African Muslims who couldn't care less about Isreal. Smh at how ignorant ppl are- that being said, the whole purpose of the Olympic Games is to foster sportsmanship & transcend politics. If Jesse Owens could make a point by winning to the Nazis- then so can other athletes.

If the Israelis are so keen to share buses with others, perhaps they could also share land and natural resources as well and stop repressing the Palestinians. Until they do, it's very hard to get worked up about this.

Always with the Israelis. The Olympics and Israel just don't mix, what with the Nazis, Munich, antisemitic officials and all. Just another pathetic moment. There's no excusing this inexcusable behavior. Sometimes a wrong is just a wrong and snark is out of place.

You reap what you sow.

The Lebanese didn't show much Olympic spirit there, but there's only so many times you can turn the other cheek. No one can deny Israel expansionist policy hasn't been asking for it, over the years.

...but it's OK for the Israelis to stop the Palestinian Olympic team chief from leaving Gaza.

I think it's only fair that the hotheads in this thread calling for Lebanon to be banned from the olympic would have to also agree that Israel should be banned for life from the games as well, based on these allegations. Stopping someone from going to the olympics is not very sportsmanlike hypocrisy

Ignorance is bliss for the bigot.

They apparently failed to apply for the paperwork needed to leave. Very different matter.

Oh, yeah, they didn't have permission to leave the arab ghetto. . .
