That's nice. I assume you're super involved in working against police brutality in general then? Please tell us about that.

I'd rather be involved in helping black people learn to take responsibility for their actions and figure out ways to improve themselves. Pulling up your pants over your ass is a start, then try to get educated and stop glorifying the thug life. That is the only thing that will help.

+1
-1. Clueless, totally clueless.

That he was accused of wanting to be a white boy is awful. I remember back in school that high-achieving black students were ridiculed by other blacks for "acting white." That's pretty sad...

I remember that too. Ridiculous.

No you dont. This is as much urban myth as that old lie about the mom naming her kid Female.

It still goes on today.

That's horrible - and indicative of a big cultural problem right there. The black students themselves are essentially saying that being smart and/or studious is a white trait, and being dumb and/or a slacker is a black trait? That's some awful message to send impressionable kids.

Speaking from having worked with Bl;ack middle school children 180 days/year, I've never witnessed Black children say getting good grades is acting white. In fact, the Black children I've wprked with in the title 1 middle school where I work care about their grades. However, for many of the people on this forum, who rarely or never work with Black children, you should stop perpetuating the flasehood of "acting white".

+1. I was a high-achieving black kid in predominantly AA schools growing up. I've heard that term a few times said mostly in jest, but have never heard it used for simply getting good grades. This is not really a thing, people.

My black HS students were always teasing each other about it. It's a thing.

You mean like how some cultures call each other apples and bananas? That doesn't mean it's something bad or nefarious. If you don't know the context of the teasing and besting you just spreading more of your prejudices. Basically, you have no clue. Do you really think they would share such thoughts with you.

75% of my students are black and Hispanic. There's a small portion (maybe about 8-10%) who are white.

Well, saying it out loud IN FRONT OF ME to each other is sharing thoughts.

Are you that much of an idiot?

Shaming boys who look/act effeminate and girls who look/act masculine is also a thing among kids of all races - we gonna break down the dynamics of that too and find some heart wrenching testimony of a gay cop and generalize their personal experience as the benchmark for every officer in uniform?

No you wouldn't. If you gave even half a shit, you wouldn't have denigrated the clothing choices of young people (they always look weird!) and deliberately tried to insult them. Are the ripped jeans and slutty clothing that plenty of white people wear any better? Who gives a shit what they're wearing? Also really sad that you can't even admit that excessive force by police is a problem at all, affecting people of all races.

Did you know that the sagging pants phenomenon originated in jails-it was a code to let other inmates know that your ass was available to fuck. It was then adopted by thugs across the nation and also more of the mainstream as well. I think it is self deprecating and adds to the list of problems that plague American black youth.

No, I'm not an idiot. I also don't happen to believe you. So let's just leave it at that. Or, we can leave it as you think I'm an idiot and I think you're a liar. Pick your poison.

What about this story, OP?

Cariol Horne, a Black police officer fired after 19 years on the force for trying to stop fellow white cop from choking and punching handcuffed black suspect in the face

- Horne says that Officer Gregory Kwiatkowsi 'choked and punched Neal Mack in the face while he was handcuffed'
- What's more, Horne claims that Kwiatkowski then punched her in the face when she attempted to stop the assault
- Horne, a mother of five, now works as a truck driver
- Kwiatkowski was recently indicted on federal civil rights violations after an incident in 2009 when he and two cops 'shot a black teenager with a BB gun while the boy was handcuffed and in their squad car'

Yeah because all black kids do that. It's not like I've never seen a white boy with his pants sagging and it's awfully ironic that it's OK for you to stereotype and generalize about some black people because of something you seen probably on TV and maybe three black people in real life but then you don't want people to generalize about white people because they've encountered your racist

Oh my God people do you read studied learn anything? It is been proven that that whole acting white thing is pretty much an urban myth. It's akin white kids calling each other geeks are making for it and it happens no more often same damn thing
