What does your spouse do; do you like his/her profession?

Dw is an RN. I'm very proud of her. This is her second career and she busted ass through school and ended up getting a very competitive job. She's so happy and her anxiety has drastcally decreased.

I wish he'd pick a more traditional and lucrative career.

Why? Sounds fascinating, and money isn't particularly important.

How crap is crap?

My wife is a think-tank director. Couldn't be happier for her.

We also own half of a Driving School (he teaches the driving classes that people have to take when ordered by the court or by DMV). We also own a Home Electronic Monitoring business. We put offenders on either ankle bracelets, phone recognition, or alcohol monitoring, depending on the terms of their release from jail. He retires from law enforcement in a year, and I will be very glad, because it's more and more dangerous every day. Other than the risks that he has to take at work, I love everything that he does. He is an amazing man.

Am I being dense or does the home monitoring business seem like a conflict of interest?

That and the driving school. Deputy Sheriff is a position of power and could require subordinates to issue more tickets... prompting attendance at the driving school.

I love these threads. DCUM is all "HHI of 750k w fully funded 529s at age 41!" until you realize that 99% of the DWs on here are SAHMs married to cops. Not that being a police office is bad thing at all. I just think it speaks volumes to the manufactured salaries that get spewed incessantly on this forum.

I don't think you can assume from these threads that the DWs are SAHMs. Who is to say they aren't professionals too who just happen to be on here answering the question asked about what their spouse does? The wife may still tip them over the high HHI category. These are the kind of assumptions that need to be changed.

Good thing the guy is retiring in a year. The whole setup is fishy.

DH is a construction contractor, he provides a great life for everyone except himself; he has worked 6 days a week for nearly 22 years.
But, if it rains or snows he goes in late, comes home early and when we want private time he can come home for "siesta". He can do whatever he wants whenever he wants but he is the hardest working man I've ever known.

His reviews and work are gorgeous and I couldn't be prouder of him.

My partner and I are in the same field. I think it is one of the reasons why we get along so well. I can anticipate his stressful times of the year and amp up the bjs

My husband is an editor, I'm a retired librarian.

I love his profession! He always has interesting things to discuss and is articulate and brilliant, if I do say so myself!
