Yep. But most parents and most people, even fat people, reinforce the idea that fat is bad all the time, so that is really where kids get it. I was shocked how early the fat bullying starts in school. (Think kindergarten.)

OP I would really personalize it to yourself. "Your mom is fat too, and lots of people have called me fat or laughed at me. It makes me feel horrible. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes and this is my bodies shape and size. I'm just right the way I am, don't you think so?" I would want my kid to really *hear* it as it relates to me personally. The bodies come in all shapes and sizes and they are all beautiful thing is something I've been talking about for my kids whole life and will never stop; because our culture is sending the opposite message in an unending torrent at all times.
