| I saw a vision of Jesus. I grew up in Soviet Union in atheist family, with both parents being members of the Communist party. Was in States getting my doctorate degree. I think it was the end of the school year, I was extremely tired (had a two year old back then with me in States, no family in this country, long commute to and from college). I was driving home one night, not really late, around 11pm, throug extremely heavy rain, kind like you have in VA, and almost felt to sleep behind the weel. I suddenly saw the man (it was kind like made out of the air), on the right side of the road, kind like in the air that made me to pull over on the side of the highway. I didn't hear the voice. I turned my emergency lights, and set there for 10-15 min, totally awake now. Rain completely stopped, and I made it safely to my house. I've never seeing the vision since then, but very often felt His presence. |
| No, not a vision. At a time in my life when I was in deep emotional turmoil, I had a dream that was so intense I woke up crying. There was a person who I am sure was Jesus - and while I went through the motions of being a Christian, I was not and am not a die hard Christian. But it was so, so deeply unlike any other dream and so beyond intense I knew I had had a dream version of a vision. (And no I was not doing drugs nor have I ever) |
How did you know it was Jesus? Did you become a Christiian a a result? |
Same question -- how do you know it was Jesus? |
Yes, I am Christian now, but not as a result of that vision. It took me almost 10 more years until I got baptized. I guess each of us has our own road to God. As to the question how I knew, I don't know how, I just knew it. It's like knowing who is your mom when you are a child. I felt something very similar to that. |
|
Yes. I had a vision. During the darkest period of my life, I was driving on the highway and verbally demanded a sign, a really obvious sign that God existed. The moment I finished my request, my gaze fell on a cluster of trees. As I passed the trees a large billboard/sign emerged with the single word "Jesus" on it. I blurted out "oh my God you're here!" and at that precise moment, a truck switched lanes in front of me and on the back of that truck was the phrase "Rite on time" I was Atheist/agnostic back then. The experience was profound enough that it gives me pause now when ever I want to write off evil acts as proof there is no living God.
|
There are a lot of "Jesus" signs on the road -- especially in the south. and the "Rite on time" lettering on the truck sounds like an advertisement of some kind. What if you had seen an "Allah" sign? Would you be a muslim now? |
|
Yes. Agree. Plenty of Jesus billboards and the "rite on time" lettering was an ad. But to me, it was the precise timing...it happened the instant I asked for proof...not seconds, minutes or hours later. To me, its enough. I know it wouldnt be for others.
If no "sign" had "appeared" at that moment, I would have remained atheist/agnostic. If "God" or "Allah" or "spirit" or the name of any other deity had appeared, yes, it would have made me consider that belief system as well. I didnt ask for proof of Jesus...I asked for proof of any divine being/power to reveal itself through a sign...I think at least some people would be as moved as I was by such an experience... . |
Makes you wonder why Jesus wouldn't be more straightforward, instead of using roadside signage. |
| Yes, I encounter signs. They come to me as birds, either as feathers or different bird species. This morning, at about 7am, a crow literally perched on the eaves-trough outside my bedroom window just as I was struggling with something. |
What was the meaning of the crow? |
No, I would not. I read 3 different translation of Koran, and strongly advise you to do the same. And then, read the Bible. You will be able to see, or hear, god's words for yourself. |
| I believe some people get messages from God or Jesus or angels, and some people claim they did but are just wishing too hard or lying or are schizophrenic. |
Tons of people prefer the Koran over the bible. |
+1 I'm neither Christian nor Muslim, but that PP's attitude is why I honestly have a slight personal bias against Christians. Ugh. |
