Do you hate traveling?

I hate traveling. But I also hate staying in the same place.

I love it. Not so much with my little kids now, lugging a ton of gear and moving at their pace and worrying about eating and sleeping demands. I do it with them anyway when we can, but it's a lot of work.

By myself or with DH or even for business, I love it. I love airports. I love trains in foreign countries. I love thinking about my next meal. I love hotel rooms. I love leaving all of my "stuff" - emotional and physical - behind and living my life with whatever I can carry.

I find the planning daunting at times, but it's so exciting and gives me something to look forward to. My every day life is pretty good, but stressful, and to have a big event to plan and look forward to is magical.

Love travelling. I work just to afford travel.

I like to travel but now that I have two little kids, it tends to be more work than fun. Though it has gotten much easier as they are now past the baby stage (much less stuff to bring and they can sit through a normal plane ride). I'm not a big fan of flying and much prefer to drive places if they are within reasonable driving distance. I'm not really afraid of flying (I used to be a flight attendant)--just think it's more trouble than it's worth and find travel by car to be much more enjoyable.

I have a love-hate relationship with it. Love traveling, but hate being away from family. Love flying when it's first class, but hate the 20% of flights I spend in coach. Love seeing new countries but hate the anxiety that comes with doing business in a new culture. Hate the TSA but love airports.

HATE unpacking.

The question was if you hate traveling, why do you hate it.

I love traveling. I need to get out of my house (I tutor online). I'm not a good packer, but I've just tried to own it and wear whatever I have.

I don't like the airport part of it. TSA stresses me out. But with Pre-Check, it is over pretty quickly.

I have been on probably hundreds of flights which were delayed or cancelled. Hate that, but as long as I get there within a reasonable amount of time, I'm ok.

I have a fair amount of anxiety about traveling, but do try and overcome it. am getting a knot in my stomach just thinking about it now. . . I've travelled a lot and not really sure I need to keep traveling, but work and family demand it and it is nice to break out of the routine.

what I mean is my day to day life is pretty routine and it is incredible to see all the people out there in the world. I was once at an airport in Brazil and there were literally hundreds of people in the corridors at 11 pm on a tuesday and it reminded me how busy the world is while I sit home most nights in my quiet neighborhood (listening to planes overhead). i also think about the lion king show at Animal Kingdom in disney and just think that they do that show 4-5 times a day every day and I'm still just sitting here doing my regular life.

thanks for the q OP

I do not enjoy traveling. I have certain health issues that make it extremely uncomfortable. I also love to be at my own house, sleeping on my own bed. I do enjoy learning about new cultures and important land marks but I would much rather read a book or watch a documentary than actually travel there. I'm also extremely afraid of flying, especially in the current climate. Basically I'm much happier being left alone in my routine. Husband loves to travel and is always thirsty for new experiences so it's definitely something we discuss and try to compromise.

Lines. Lack of comfort.

Checking-in for a plane ride is annoying, but I totally understand why it's so important.
If I am wearing sandals or flip flops, I dread taking off my shoes in the metal detector.

Flying is not fun at all, it is the only time in my life that I feel I have zero control. Plus flying coach in such tight quarters feels too intimate to me & the bathrooms are like peeing in a coffin. The toilet flushes too loudly and everyone on board knows how many times I visit the John. And the duration too! *sigh*
I also hate the East Coast turbulence and popped eardrums.

Hotels are a nice break from any housekeeping on my part, but it still grosses me out knowing only the bed linens get washed, the duvets/bedspreads do not.
Ditto the fabric shower curtains.

Eww.

I don't enjoy traveling. It's so tiresome. Packing, airport slog, being in an unfamiliar place and away from lots of little conveniences, missing my dog after a few days, unable to eat healthy, airport slog, unpacking. It's just a really s pain in the ass to me.

I do now because I have two young kids. I used to love it.

But do you drive? You are so much more likely to be injured or killed on the road than you are in a plane. I mean, I'm sure you know this statistically speaking, but it sounds like maybe you have some anxiety (to which I can relate), but it's good to be reminded of this sometimes.

I love traveling! Have a short work trip coming up and it'll be a great time. We travel a lot with DD as well, and we all love it. New adventures, new places, it's always fun.

I enjoy spending time doing what I want to without any responsibilities like cooking, cleaning, etc. Now business trips can either be fun or annoying depending on the purpose. Travels with my family are always a blast though!

This is me exactly. For some reason, packing for work is so much easier for me than packing for family trips. I think it is all the kids stuff that puts me over the top.
