If you didn't have to work and had an unlimited budget, what/where would you go for the summer?

London as a base and see all of UK and Ireland

Switzerland as a base and travel to northern Italy and Germany

Hawaii is wonderful

Vancouver, Banff, Jasper, Alaska another option

Asia doesn't appeal to me for the summer - too hot!!

Go to Hawaii.

+1. Thinking of renting a house in the English countryside next summer. I love the Lake District, but just watched Poldark, and it's made me want to go to Cornwall.

I would go to London, get a flat, and take a to of daytrips, depending on my kids ages...
Or go to Tanzania and do the circle tour
Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos

I do Asia with kids annually. The flight is fine. They just watch tv.

I would invest in a Swedish summer home to spend time overseas with my kids. They would be able to connect with our cousins, learn another language, and play European football (maybe even professionally for the girls). Summer homes are integral to Swedish culture. I would love to be there for Midsummer festivities: https://sweden.se/culture-traditions/the-swedish-summer-house-a-love-affair/

With kids Latin America. I'd tour five countries...let's see:

Bolvia and Peru, for sure. Then, Chile. Then, Argentina. Then,
I'd cap it off with Brazil to free the kids of their immersion Spanish summer.

We'd visit all of the colonial imprints and big cities with long excursions into the gorgeous natural spots.

Later visits to Mexico, Ecuador, Panama, and Puerto Rico to follow. Maybe Spain for a summer on their own.

That would be amazing!!

If it were just me (no kids), and since we're fantasizing, if XH were still DH and not an asshole:

I run through Africa. Senegal, Mali, even Nigeria, (for shopping and music) then pop over to Ethiopia. See Kenya (and stay awhile with friends), then down to Tanzania (again, to visit with good friends). Then Southern Africa: Cape Town and Durban, then to Victoria Falls and a brief tour of Mozambique. Stay in Botswana, and maybe take a peek at the dunes in Namibia.

The trip of a lifetime.

OP here. London as base and see UK and Ireland actually sounds perfect.

OP here. DH and I both think that the flight to Asia would be too much for the kids. Maybe in a few years. DH and I have a trip to Asia planned though. We will not be taking the children. We go to the Caribbean often. Have been to the Caribbean three times in the past six months (Thanksgiving, winter break and spring break). Have also been to Florida several times this school year.
