I think I've been behind your car in the car pool lane.

Lol, yeah that's probably me.

We moved from McLean to North Springfield for TJ, and it worked out well. We started looking in Annandale, but found the edge of North Springfield is very close to TJ, the beltway, and shopping. The move saved loads of commuting hours, we never worry about traffic, and the housing prices are much more affordable than McLean.

If you have other kids who don't get into TJ, however, they end up zoned for Annandale or Lee.

What is nearby, affordable, and have good schools. They should be family friendly and safe.

I think Burke and West Springfield are good communities with good schools that are an easy commute to TJ.

Outside the Beltway Annandale -- look for Wakefield Forest or Canterbury Woods boundary, and be zoned for Frost/Woodson. Easy drive to TJ. Actually closer to Lake Braddock SS then Frost/Woodson, though.

If you live off Braddock or little river outside the beltway- it is an easy drive to TJ and there are some nice neighborhoods with great schools.

He might end up commuting to work his whole life. No need to start commuting in high school. My sister lives in Annandale so I don't find it to be a big deal.
From McLean to Annandale? Don't care for Mclean, but rather Vienna and Oakton and even then would move closer to TJ if he got accepted to there.
We haven't bought a forever home we would have hard time leaving or renting out. We will make the rental a new home for awhile. Anything to not have a long commute.

Huh?

There are plenty of nice neighborhoods off Braddock road.

The FCPS school buses leave from the base high schools to take kids to TJ. But they tend to leave earlier.

There's no part of north Springfield zoned for Lee either, smartass. It's Edison and Annandale

My DD's best friend's family did this. Moved from Edison district to Annandale to be closer to TJ. They bought a beautiful house in the Woodson Pyramid, in Annandale.
