Any experience with Social Clubs in DC?

The food and wine selection at the Metropolitan Club are excellent. Interesting speakers and other fun events. Great place for a business lunch or a private party. Plenty of 40 somethings belong. Agree it will be around for a long time to come.

I go to the Metropolitan Club frequently for various events. I find it impossibly stuffy, and I'm over 50. Plus you aren't allowed to have phones out ever.

This is one of the reasons I like our club.

Yes, it's incredibly civilizing.

We have an older family member who is a member and invites us on a regular basis for events...the only thing that bothers me is the no cell phones out rule since we have to hire a babysitter to attend the events and I get a bit nervous being out of touch. I find myself going outside frequently to check my phone to make sure everything is ok with the sitter. Otherwise, I don't find it stuffy (and I'm in the under 40 crowd) and they have an excellent wine list.

I think you have to have done something notable to join the cosmos club, beyond being born.

Party rooms (multiple!), babysitters/helpers that are club employees, excellent bar for the parents (and a fun kids room for the kids to go to), and some book-online napping spaces for tired parents who want to sneak away from the office for mid-day naps.

I'd join in a heartbeat!!!

This is brilliant.
