Holton wait list?

Anonymous
I wonder why their time frame is different from all the other schools?
Anonymous
It's not, other schools are just starting their Spring Break.

Holton's spring break is more aligned with Montgomery County. Starts tomorrow and runs through 4/4. Many of the other private schools (DC and VA public schools as well) are on spring break now and return early next week

I think this is in reference to their due date for deposits and applications.

right, although Spring break probably is relevant - they want the acceptances in before folks head out. Admin folks get time off too.

They are more aligned with MCPS only this year. Holton always starts Spring Break at the end of 3rd quarter. They start after Labor Day and it was late this year so this is a late end to the 3rd quarter. They don't normally coincide with MC. It just happened to this year.

Anyone accepted off waitlist yet?

Holton wait list rarely moves in a timely fashion. My DD was accepted off list for 9th grade in August. Since we were coming from public this worked out for us but if you have to commit to a private in May or June, this may not work for you.

When you accept a spot you're asked to check how long you're willing to remain on the list so maybe they didn't give an earlier spot to someone who said they could hang on till August. Just a thought. We have until May 31st but still remain hopeful.

My DD checked May 31st. We were called in August. She kept in contact with coach and she wanted to play her sport at Holton with the Holton coach. We placed a deposit on another private but she decided before the deadline that if she didn't get into Holton she would attend and play on team at public school.

Just getting around to posting. My DD accepted 9th at NCS so her Holton spot should be open if they didn't over admit. Good luck, great school!
