I’ve experience the same scenario over the past two months I’ve cooked ground turkey from Walmart and from Kroger‘s and each time that I’ve cooked ground turkey it smelled so foul it stunk up the entire house that I could not eat it, it’s smelled repulsive. The third time that I made it I actually went ahead and put it in the spaghetti and when I tasted it, it was disgusting. So I call Kroger’s and asked had there been a recall on the ground turkey and they said no I asked if anyone had returned any ground turkey and they said no something is definitely going on with ground turkey I’ve been eating ground turkey for 20 years and it’s never smelled or taste like this I don’t even eat beef. I also asked a close friend and she had a similar experience.
Someone needs to do a recall, something is wrong
Funny to see this revived, I'm the OP. I shop at Kroger too. I basicallly stopped buying it and just get lean beef now. |
NOPE!

I have always hated the ground turkey poultry smell/taste and just reading this all is nauseating.
This happened to me last night. Bought a pound from Kroger (their brand) and it smelled strong. I also added a pound of ground chuck and made my spaghetti sauce. It didn't taste good, so I threw it out. Kroger will only refund the turkey price.
I'm done buying turkey. |
I am juicy jaws just reading the thread title. Nope.
Ugh just cooked up 1/3 of a pack frozen butter ball ground turkey my mom gave me last week but had been frozen. It has my entire house smelling like a poultry massacre in here. I’m not much of a meat eater as is and usually avoid cooking it but this may be the push I need to go full pescatarian. It was all it took over 10 years ago for me to wake up and the smell of bacon and ground beef was it for me with those meats. Looks like I’m off turkey something isn’t right here.
I would surely pitch it. I get food poisoning fairly frequently so I don't eat bad meat or it will eat me.
I have been having this problem often .I'm so disgusted becuz I have always bought this and just seem to be having this problem within last year
This just happened to me, my stomach has gotten sick from the smell, just a really strong smell all over my home. I was making rotell and I added some of the brown ground turkey to the crockpot. I am afraid to eat it because the smell is so loud. I purchased this meat from Kroger‘s, and it’s the Kroger‘s brand, very disappointed.
I wash my hands and they still smell like the ground turkey after washing it 3 times.
