Then take into account siblings (which do not always get in), Board member's kids and grandkids and legacies and your chances are slim to none. Getting a spot in K at Potomac is like winning the lottery.

3 classes not two.

Current k parent. There are 3 K classes of 16 kids each. If you don't get in, try for first bc each class bumps up to 18 kids

Anyone know how the new admissions team is doing? Must be a different tone without CN (for better or worse).

Had a great experience with admissions this year. Child got accepted and we are so excited. They had a very nice admission process from our perspective.

We got in too but had virtually no interaction with admissions. That's fine it was first choice for us.

To the two PPs - congrats! Would you mind sharing what grades?

Does anyone know if Potomac will let accepted students shadow before decisions are due (particularly interested in MS)? Heard that may have not been permitted in the past, but might change with new admissions staff.

This thread is concerning for me, as my ds will be applying for 9th next year.
Any chance for a straight A, 99th percentile white kid from a VA K-8?
We don't have high power jobs, or the finances that allow for big donations. Heck, we're not even well dressed...we're just totally normal people.

You don't need to be 99% to get in, Potomac looks at much more than just test scores.

Pp here. I know that being 99th percentile can be as much of a curse as it can a blessing in the admissions process, but he is what he is. He is also a nationally ranked athlete and trains 20+ hours a week, but it's not a sport that the school offers...so I don't know how they view sports like that. There aren't a lot of independent high schools in virginia, so there will be a lot riding on his few applications.
