HGC Letters?

By the way I am hoping I am wrong and we Do get the letters sooner... I hate to wait... I want to know one way or the other.
I also tried looking in Pine Crest website... I couldn't find the open house information anywhere!

I'm the PP who posted the Pine Crest date. I was surprised to see the open house listed on the newsletter. I also checked the website and saw it is not included on their calendar. I'm pretty sure it was a goof to include it on the newsletter to families. Sorry, I didn't intend to create a freak out! But, like others have said, we heard last year around mid-March and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be mid-March again.

I have a kid at PCES and didn't notice that in the newsletter. The letters have been sent in March for the last severa years at least.

If it was a mistake, I am happy they made it to have fair warning of the notification timeline.

What in the world is the point of keeping the date for the open house a secret? If I weren't reading DCUM, I'd still assume it was going to happen in April. Doesn't make sense - don't they want all of the selected children to be able to attend?

If your child gets in they tell you the date for the open house in the letter. I'm guessing they don't just want random people showing up. Note that usually is only a week or 10 days notice for the open house. Was this way for both ES and MS.

I guess that makes sense, though it seems like they could have a list of names at the door and only check in the admitted students with their parents.

^^ exactly. I don't see it on web site of any HGC schools, ours is Fox Chapel. If they are following a certain timeline every year, what the harm in letting the parents know when the decisions will be mailed and what are the dates of open houses?

I don't think they want to be held to a schedule. They get inundated with calls if they are a day late putting letters in the mail.

FYI -- Acceptance letters for at least the Elementary program were mailed out today, along with emails for those who were accepted. We just received an email inviting us to attend an open house at Barnsley on March 21 in the morning. Our email incorrectly states that the OH is "Monday, March 23" but the flyer states it is March 21.

Good luck to all, and if it doesn't go your way, its not the end of the world.

So do you think if you didn't get an email today, that means your kid didn't get in? Pinecrest cluster if it makes a difference.

I got an email today inviting my child to Chevy Chase. It stated letters are being mailed today.

I've had children at Pine Crest/Oak View and did not receive emails. No wouldn't worry PP.

I really don't know, as this is my first rodeo. But I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. My wife received the email today at 4:35 PM, but I got nothing, which is odd because my email was on the application, so there already appears to be some inconsistency in how the emails are being sent out.

Good luck!
