Maci from teen mom drank the first 22 weeks of pregnancy

Agree with this and would add that this is how she parents him in general. Invisible lines, unrealistic expectations, the kid doesn't know wth is up. And the Dad is the same way. I disagree that she is the best of the bunch. I think it's not overly obvious how damaging she is emotionally.

True--the only good parents on this show are Brandon and Teresa.

(on TMOG, that is. I'm still gonna stand behind my girl, Chelsea!)

How is it not a stable environment? Because she had two boyfriends in the last 7 years, each of whom she seemed to be serious about? Maci and Taylor have been together since 2012. They seem to be monogamous, they do lots of activities together, Taylor is involved in every bday and holiday, they communicate with each other, make decisions together, he spends time with Bentley and tells him he loves him....it's not the piece of paper that dictates the level of commitment, it's their actions and words.

Sheesh, it's like I'm watching a whole different show. In my opinion, the only pieces of paper that dictate Taylor's level of commitment are the checks from MTV.

One thing that really bothered me was a few years ago when she spanked Bentley at the bowling alley. Not that I necessarily objected to her spanking him (based on where they lived, I would have been shocked if she didn't spank) but because the whole thing was a set-up for him. He was 4-5 years old, and she picked him up from school, when he is probably TIRED from his day, and took him right out to the bowling alley. She kept telling him it was a special treat for him, but HER friends are there, not his, and a lot of kids that age don't react well to a sudden change in their routine, even if it's a surprise "treat."

Then during the game, Maci's friends were egging Bentley on with playful teasing, and Bentley responded, they egged him on, he responded, etc. And then whatever he did somehow crossed the imaginary line Maci had put in place, and he gets in trouble.

It bugged me so much because she didn't even seem aware that Bentley was probably tired and cranky from his day at school, then got more stimulation from the bowling alley AND her friends. Of course he's going to snap and act out. I think in that scenario, she could have saved the situation by saying "Time to stop, one more smart mouth remark and we're leaving." And then LEAVE when he does it again. He needed a nap!

Anyway. Maci. The best of the worst.

I agree with both of you. Maci's parenting leaves a lot to be desired.

Like in this week's episode, when Maci, Taylor, and Bentley were eating dinner and all joking around, with Taylor egging Bentley on, and she suddenly got mad at Bentley for being disrespectful and sent him to his room. Bentley was going along with what the adults were doing, until suddenly Maci decided it wasn't ok (I also think she was taking out some of her anger towards Taylor on Bentley). I'm fine with wanting your kids to be respectful, but parents need to model the behaviour they expect, and make expectations clear from the beginning. I nip that behaviour in the bud, as soon as I think my kids are starting to get disrespectful I warn them that they need to tone it down.

He's even said on camera multiple times he's in it for the show and the money! All he does is lie around and drink beer and ask Maci to buy him businesses, and then ignores her ultimatums.

Yes! Great example, and she does things like that all the time. I can only imagine when the cameras aren't around.

+1. And to boot, she ends up doing the work in his business.

I had to sigh when she said "it's awesome going to the pediatrician and saying This is my son Bentley Edwards, this is my daughter Jayde McKinney and I'm Maci Bookout. It's awkward!" That's what happens when you keep having kids with men who won't marry you.

Given what we know about fetal alcohol syndrome and the devastating effects it has on those babies (who have now grown up, in many cases), I really think this should be an arrestable offense - its definitely endangering the life of the unborn child, no doubt whatsoever.

The baby will be fine because somehow they always are. Despite their mothers being teenagers with questionable party habits and crappy nutrition and being raised in unstable environments with little continuity between houses and parents' partners, the kids seem incredibly well adjusted and smart (Sophia aside, she's weird). None of the kids seem to have special needs or issues of any sort despite all this, and the moms of course have no idea how lucky they are to have bright, neurotypical children who exhibit normal behavior and stuff because they don't know anything about anything. So Maci's baby who subsisted on Bud Light in utero will be totally fine while some other family who did everything right will have a child with special needs ... Just how it goes. Kind of like how many responsible DCUM parents have to use fertility treatments whereas these girls get pregnant if their boyfriend looks at them too long at the right time of month.

The oldest of the Teen Mom babies are maybe 7 or 8 now, so I'd say the jury is still out.

You mean Brainantreesa (sp?), as another poster said in another thread. But I agree.

She's the one exception.
