Reaching out to family for help

Also consider a GoFundMe page. You are going through more than anyone should have to go through, it is ok to need some help now to get through this situation.

I agree. These people who want you to go without help are crazy. And if I were your brother, I'd want you to ask. I may not be able to help much, but I'd try.

I don't know what your financial or caregiving needs are. Is it something a couple thousand or childcare offers could help with? Or much bigger than that? Do you belong to a church or other place of worship? They should be helping out too. And does the hospital social worker have any resources you could tap into? Food banks, donations, etc?

I hope you and your family get better soon.

Your child is most likely on Mediciad.
And you are not working due to a cancer diagnosis?

I don't understand your statement that you don't qualify for assistance.
What else is going on?

We have a horrific social safety net, PP. so many think we spend too much. We don't spend nearly enough.
