Does anyone on here have a DC that is NOT a superstar?

Would love to hear experiences for those who have or had DCs in HS in the DCC that were not in any magnet programs.

Are you researching for an article? What's your objective here?

I have two pre-teens and we are thinking about cashing in on the house and moving in eastern MoCo. Just want to know about people's experience with the high schools in the area who have kids who are not in magnets. All everyone ever talks about on this site is magnet programs and the 'W' schools.

What? So of the 5 high schools in the consortium the Einstein kids are the least superstarish? Not sure I follow your line of snark.

Seriously. I would think there are superstars and non-superstars in every school. Although I'm not sure OP has really defined what is meant by "superstar". I am assuming gifted? Advanced?

Yes, you are correct. Someone who is in advanced or magnet classes. Academic excellence.

Of course kids can be superstars in other things. One of my DCs is a superstar in the arts. Thats where he/she spends their most of their freetime.

^^ yes, many types of intelligences. I feel bad for kids who have parents who are disappointed in them and constantly comparing them to other kids.

Me too.

I am in East Silver Spring - population in federal workers and professors. "All" parents have graduate degrees, Peace Corps experience. What I mean by this they value education (or their families did and had the means to pay for it - I had to add that for inevidible snark of DCUM)

I feel like though not an affluent population ESS is certainly upwardly mobile , but still a blend of families who are more at-risk.

I am hoping that all these families stay put and not flee for western part of county and SS will outgrow its reputation.
I also believe having parents involved makes a big difference in an a student's performance.

My DC is doing "fine", not a superstar to his teachers , not getting tutored or attending STEM classes. I am okay with that.

I was a superstar in school. All it got me was entrance into an Ivy, a handsome husband, gobs of money, and essentially total freedom from anxiety and worry. Sorry it didn't work out this way for you.

And apparently all you had to do was sell your soul to the devil

I do not want my kids to be superstars in anything. I want them to be average.

I wish for them to be healthy, happy, loved and lucky.
