PP- Students take it in 7th (or 8th) grade for the Hopkins and Duke programs. If a student takes it before they turn 13 and get over 700 on a section there are some extra perks - that's why she took it.

Some scholarship applications require it too..and actually the MCPS HS Magnet application has a spot for it too so it is not that unusual.

PP - One other thing that we learned is that you can't test until you registered in the district. I knew about the cut-offs and was hoping to bring the kids up for the tests. It isn't enough to show employment etc, they have to be registered. So even if you get on a waitlist, it won't be until you have moved.
