| Also, you don't need to co sleep if you bf. I bf and went back to work at three months, it was fine. Cosleeping is really a matter of preference. |
| Do people really let their baby sleep in a bouncer/RNP full time? Isn't this really dangerous in addition to bad position for babies? |
|
PnP worked great for us. We moved it into the nursery and then transitioned DD into the crib from there. No problems.
|
I was wondering that too. Seems like it would be good for the occasional nap but I didn't think you were supposed to use it full time. And then you see threads about how the baby won't sleep in a crib. |
+1 last time we lived in a condo so I just had a crib and a bassinet I never used (I had a baby nurse for overnights and EBF) sometimes the space is a consideration to determine what you need. |
| We're planning to use a pack n play in our room at night to start off. The permanent nursery is downstairs, so I hope to use the crib for daytime naps anyway to make the eventual transition easier. |
That's pretty dramatic. I know lots of people who used it for the first few months. |
| Provided that you transfer the baby to a crib at around 4 months, why shouldn't the Rock and Play be used for sleep? |
It is not dramatic. It's similar to letting your kid sleep in car seat full time. Just google baby sleeping in bouncer. You will find many SIDS related links and advisories cautioning against it. |
+1. We did this for #2, and plan to for #3 in a few weeks. Once baby is big enough to move around a lot while sleeping (we use a sleep sack with swaddle wings at night for the first 3-4 months at least), we unswaddle and move to crib. No issues with first two (tho #1 was in crib from start-not near as nice as bedside to me!!) transitioning this way, I hope #3 follows n their footsteps! |
| Oh and it's cool that you know "lots" of people that do it. I know two that have died from SIDS (including my sister). It's not worth it. |
I should also add the #2 had terrible reflux, and both our regular Ped and Ped GI said sleeping in rnp or car seat was fine so they were at an angle. She slept with a wedge for a year in her crib after we moved her. If you're against rnp, I'd go w co-sleeper since baby will be right there. |
| For people who have used or are recommending a cosleeper, is there a particular one you recommend? With our first, we set the crib up as a sidecar, but don't want to do that this time around. I don't like the lip/height difference with the arms reach, but that seems to be the most popular. |

AAP says not to sleep in bouncer type devices. There is a movement from pediatricians to get Fisher Price to not label RNP as sleeper.

From sleeping in a rock n play? I'm sorry for your loss, but how old are you? |
