All New Staff in Sidwell Admissions?

I'm a Sidwell parent who has helped out at some of the admissions events. I've never seen any of the admissions people be anything but welcoming and friendly. However, the crush of people at those events is significant, and a high level of tension and even competitiveness seems to flow from the situation. Many parents seem to arrive at DEFCON 3 before the event even starts. The admissions people are tense because they want everything to go smoothly. Given that situation, I can easily see how signals might be misread.

As someone who is currently going through the process I didn't find the admissions staff to be rude. I did however, find they aren't as personable as the admissions staff at some of the other schools we are applying to. The open house was a complete mad house and if I had based my decision to apply on just that experience I wouldn't have. I decided to do a small tour before applying and it was a completely different feel and the admission staff who conducted the tour was great.
