Fun question: if you had not married your spouse

Anonymous
He would have married his ex-girlfriend, had a country club wedding, taken the Wall Street job and helped bankrupt the world.

Instead he married me and catches predators of children, which was great for years... Now society hates him, demonizes who he is and he is fed up, he is gong to retire early and teach history to HS students.

Richer and possibly fat/unhealthy because he'd be eating take out or grilling burgers every night. I'm sure there would be aspects that would make him happy but I think overall, we're both better off as a couple

He'd be about the same as he is now, but with more travel for fun because he wouldn't have kids. He might be living in a different town, because relocation for work would be easier. He might be married, but probably not, because we married when he was already in his 40s.

He would have gone through a series of other long-term relationships that may or may not have ended up with getting suckered/trapped into marrying him.

I think she'd be happy, though making less money. Her field isn't usually lucrative and she's doing much better than average, but only because she followed me up to the D.C. area and fell into a great situation employment wise.

Me, my career has been great, and I don't think that would have changed much, but I have no idea how I'd be relationship wise. I assume I'd have met people, but I probably would have had to wade into the online dating world since I'm not much for the bar scene, etc. My wife and I met in college so I never had to try that road.

His life would be calmer, less messy and he would be even more successful. He would probably be happy, because he wouldn't know he was missing the nerdy, silly, complicated family life that we've created together. I would miss him.

Babe, is that you? Sure sounds like it.

We must have married the same guy! I'll add that he would've married a very homebody, less funny, but maybe hotter, woman whose children would not have any vision of the world outside of their local area.

Why does society hate him? He's a cop or federal agent on a child exploitation team? Either way, I admire those guys. I thought I could work on a child exploitation legal team and after a few months the nightmares got to me. Anyone who works in that field should get a medal.

Lucky him for hooking up with you then.

Basically, about 80% of these are "he'd be happier, but doing something I don't particularly approve of." Sigh.

+1! or at least I hope so. I don't believe that we all only have ONE soulmate but a spectrum of compatible people, so he would probably have a similar soul mate

he'd be making some other poor woman miserable.

I think he'd have found someone a lot like me and had a pretty good life.

At least I hope so! He's a good person. We argue often and fair, and we love each other tons.
