Bi-racial child and elite schools

The 99% on the IQ test and the ability to shell out 40K per year will be more important in admissions.

Also, research generally indicates that the benefits of attending private school generally accrue to low income kids. That's especially true in this area, with so many strong public schools.

Your child's heritage is just one small piece of the application puzzle. Your child will also have to score well on a standardized test, have a good playdate/interview and get good recommendations from teachers.

In DC, there are enough applicants from all types of backgrounds (other than poor) that give the admissions staff room to select the students they deem most desirable and still come up with a diverse class profile.

I'm the one who called your thinking idiotic before. I'm also South Asian and DH is white. There are many, many children of this combination in DC elite private schools. Our DC is one of them. It is so common that it isn't noteworthy much less an issue. You are still talking out of your ass.

There are lots of half-Asian and half-South Asian kids around here. That alone won't remove your child from the cookie cutter category.

There was a long thread a few weeks about Asian-Americans in private schools. It has some useful data on the percentages of Asian kids in each school. But to answer your question, no, being half South Asian and half white is not that big of a hook, it is not at all uncommon in the DC area.

I'm south-asian and you are an embarrassment, but you seem truly clueless and somehow found your way here so I will educate you. I have travelled all over the US, even small towns and when I said I was south-asian, they knew I was referring to India/Pakistan/Bangladesh and I've had to talk to farmers in Kansas who have never stepped foot out of their state.

The only time your race matters at a private school is when there are a large percentage of WASPs. These people are closet racists or actually think they are not racists because their landscaper is latino. They will make polite conversation, but never ever will they be caught dead out to dinner with you or invite your kid to a playdate, birthday party invite for sure, but that is about it.

As your child is really young and you are clueless, here's my advice: go research NCRC, most elite preschool in this area. If your kid can get in there, they are all but guaranteed a seat on the supreme court.
