Based on this alone IDK if I'd get my kids all excited about a new aunt who might be around for a hot minute...or not at all.

I may not attend because it's a shaky relationship, especially if it's far away. But I would just say we were so sorry we have to miss it. I wish you the best, and send a present. I would never, ever mention religious reasons, multiple marriages, etc. No need to hurt people for no reason.

I hope you dont have to travel far for the wedding. I doubt attendees believe that folks divorced and marrying second and third times will uphold their vows.

Actually, I do. Thats why I am in doubts.

NP here. Odds are their marriage will not last long. So look ahead. What relationship does Sister want with a Brother down the road? Will it help that she tried to be there for him, attending his wedding (with a closed mouth)? Or will there be even more strife down the road because Sister didn't attend, made a big production out of it, and added unnecessary stress?

I totally get the moral objections and the religious issues. BUT. To refuse to attend a sibling's wedding is so hurtful and seems like the worse evil ("sin"). Sister is basically cutting ties here and of course this will divide the entire family. I think she will be able to reconcile her Catholic heart if she attends the wedding for the sake of family harmony. If she truly can live with herself after boycotting brother's wedding... Well she is not worth much as a sister or as a Christian.
It seems like some people take their religious beliefs to a point that Christ himself would not approve of - but this is just a guess. I follow the compassionate and forgiving Christ myself
