nah, drivers all obey lights. only cyclists "blow through lights" The only reason for red light cameras is govt revenue, extracted from poor law abiding drivers who just want to get to work.

Its the war on cars, doncha know.

I can absolutely believe that a driver of one of those huge trucks would not feel a pedestrian impact. These dump or construction trucks are not built like normal trucks or cars.

So drivers of these dump/construction trucks should be required to undergo more intensive training and be fined more when caught going over the speed limit.

Based on some recent threads here, I'm sure this is all cyclists' fault somehow.

The victims body was split in two. Even if the driver claims she didn't feel an impact, wouldn't there be blood all over the truck?

This. If this had happened to a cyclist, the thread would be full of hateful messages about how she deserved it.

Depends on the impact. Could be on the wheel. Don't imagine blood spurting all over the windshield a la horror story.

SPlit in half? I probably don't want to know, but what does that mean? Poor woman.

It literally means her legs and feet were separate from her upper half. I didn't see it but two of my neighbors did. IMO there is NO WAY someone hits a person with their car/truck with that amount of force that doesn't know they hit someone.

Holy mother of god.

+1 million

I have read some awful things on DCUM, but this is really going to stick with me for a long time.

She must have been caught under a wheel. Also dreading funding out who this is. So sad and scary.

I'm curious to know the circumstances of how she was hit. And who hit her.

But the truck driver drove like 5 blocks after she hit and killed the jogger to deliver what I think was gravel for a road project the city was working on. In those 5 blocks, all evidence of hitting and killing that woman disappears from the truck, whether it was under the wheel or somewhere else? I'm not buying it that the driver didn't know.

My husband drove by on his way to daycare pickup and said even with accident clean up, there was a 25-30 ft long trail of tire tracks... How she wasn't aware she hit someone is pretty hard to believe...

Dear god this is truly awful. My husband is a runner and had a close call last year. Drivers need to slow down and pay attention. Sending thoughts of comfort to her family.

Terrible. A woman was killed in Suitland, MD about two months ago. Hit by a car; body split in half. I'm guessing impact has a lot to do with it. If the car hits your legs, your body separates. How awful.

Did the driver go up on the sidewalk?
