| And what of all of our middle-eastern "allies?" They aren't doing much of anything to help. |
Turkey and Lebanon have the most. 2 million and 1 million respectively. Egypt has taken 130,000. Not sure why the much-wealthier gulf states aren't helping out. Canada has taken about 2,500. The US has only taken 1,500. |
"Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain have resettled 'zero' refugees...None of the Gulf countries signed the 1951 Refugee Convention which defines a refugee 'outside the country of his nationality' because of 'fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality'. Gulf nations argue that accepting large numbers of Syrian refugees is a serious threat to the safety of its citizens because terrorists could hide themselves among civilians. They have donated large sums of money to help homeless refugees. According to ReliefWeb, the UAE has funded an entire refugee camp in Jordan which shelters tens of thousands of Syrians. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have donated funds, food, shelter and clothing to Syrias in Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan. In total, the Gulf states are thought to have given over £589m to the aid effort - but it is four times less than the United States has. ------------------------------- http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3222405/How-six-wealthiest-Gulf-Nations-refused-single-Syrian-refugee.html But, that threat is a threat to all the countries not just those Arab ones, so there is really no excuse. |
| The countries sending the most foreign fighters and funding off to support ISIS and other groups should be made to bear the burden of the refugees. |

That family made it out of Syria, to Turkey where there is no war. Why on earth did they need to take extra risk to try to get to Greece? If the aim was to avoid war, they did so on their first leg of that trip.
Poor choices. |
Why don't you volunteer to take a half-dozen into your home, sponsor them, and pay all their expenses out of your pocket. |
