A couple of the ES are majority-South Asian as well. Plus, there is TJ down the road, something Maryland just doesn't have. |
I remember when Native American *WAS* the politically correct term. |
| I guess "feather Indian" and "dot Indian" are beyond the pale. |
| FFX county. Tons of Indian families. |
Yes we are referring to dot not feather here. |
The issue is that "American Indian" is what is refereed to in federal laws, Supreme Court cases and treaties. We all have a Bureau of Indian Affairs. Most of us are native Americans, so it's not a very descriptive term. |

I live in Ward 3 and have for 20 years. I can't think of one single, solitary Indian *neighbor* in that entire time.
(and please spare me the upper caucasia eyeball -- the streets around my homes have been fairly diverse with other ethnicities and countries of origin. Just not Indian, and very, very few native-born Chinese people (vs. adopted kids) ) |
Interesting. Who's running 7-11s there then? |
It's because of the public schools. JKLMM, Deal, SWW/Wilson does not measure up to FFX and TJ. |
Ethiopians |
Old charming housing stock has no appeal for Indians nor do the bad DC schools. They worked their asses off to get to the states or if they were born here, their parents made them work their asses off. They want new houses and excellent schools. |
Correct, this is true w/ all asians and most white people not from the DC area. I am from the DC area and am an anomaly. I do not tolerate old houses and bad schools but I am not white. |
All the indian boys in my neighborhood play cricket. It is funny trying to watch the baseball players try to adjust their swing and vice versa. |
| In Maryland, Wootton district. Up and coming... Damascus district and Urbana district. |
That's a good question.. I had an Indian friend here in US in the 60's. He was really into playing baseball with us. In hindsight, I am not sure if that was to assimilate or just a kid who wanted to play with other kids. |
