Tell me about Olney Schools

Who said anything about Sherwood being Utopia?

My point is this: if you bother to move out to Olney and want your kids to build friendships from K-HS, then buy in a neighborhood that feeds into Sherwood instead of buying into Cashell. Otherwise, your kid ends up at a different HS than all the kids he plays sports with, goes to CCD with, etc.

And in Sherwood vs. Magruder, Sherwood wins (by a lot). But Good Counsel trounces Sherwood.

PS - Olney is more Catholic and conservative than I anticipated. It doesn't really impact our lives, but it's something I try to keep in mind when chatting about politics, etc.

Good Counsel's academic program isn't variably different than Sherwood. They do however cover up their controversies much better.

However GC college placement is way better than Sherwood.

I think this is supposed to mean Magruder and Blake kids are as/more college ready than Sherwood kids.

Can you post a link to the SAT scores for mcps schools? Or at least Sherwood, Magruder and Blake? Thanks!

Scroll down - Table A8.
http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/pdf/SATBOEMemo10614.pdf

combined scores for 2014:

Blake - 1555
Magruder - 1598
Sherwood - 1588

The extremes - Whitman, Wootton, Churchill, etc. - did very well. But what surprised me? combined score for Damascus - 1700! BCC was only 11 points higher.

No way Sherwood "trounces" Magruder. Obviously more diverse group at Magruder, which makes the test scores at Magruder even more impressive than Sherwood The test scores don't lie, the schools are almost identical. And yes, Damascus is a great school. Way smarter student body at Damascus than Sherwood or Magruder.
