Safe Baby Shampoo, what do you use?

Johnson's. Honestly, all the demonizing of brands that have been around forever for claims that aren't proven to have actual harm sometimes drives me to buy that product in protest of everyone who are (I think) overreacting. My son gets 3-4 baths a week and we use a quarter size amount of liquid soap. It's not like I'm feeding it to him for dinner!

Shampoos are tear free because they contain numbing agents which should NEVER EVER be put on a babies soft spot.

Ok so we've been using CA Baby since DD was born. She is 2 now and freaking out every time I have to shampoo her hair because it stings her eyes (and she in not cooperating) Are there any safe(r) tear free shampoos?

Is this true or is this an overreacting-organic-nut urban legend? It's so easy to make claims without backing them up. I sincerely, free of snark, would like to know.

But that's exactly what the manufacturers want you to think. These things build up in our system over time. Why does everyone know someone who has or has had cancer???? Was it as prevalent 200 years ago? The answer is no.

Because 200 years ago people didn't have as much time to get cancer because the dropped dead much sooner...and 200 years ago most cancer probably wasn't diagnosed, people who had it just got sick and died without knowing why.

This is true; however, what's wrong with striving for long lives and optimal health, naturally? We know dumping chemicals into lakes and spewing them into the air is bad for the environment. Why would we want to dump chemicals all over our bodies -- and worse, our childrens' bodies -- every day?

Nothing at all--and that wasn't even my point. I was just trying to dispel the loony notion that people didn't get cancer 200 years ago. You should feel free to never let another chemical touch you or your child if that is your wish.

These man made chemical or tupe of products didn't exist 200 years ago and since they do exist NOW they are a concern!!

We use California Baby and Earth Mama products. More expensive than I would like but we buy them in bulk to reduce the cost somewhat. For us, this is a good mix of very safe for them PLUS it smells awesome. I wanted both of those things and it took a while to find it actually!
Earth Mama is not tear free but the baby/toddler dont mind so far - we have a ten week old and a two year old. I didnt realize California Baby wasnt tear free until I read it in this thread.

My concern about chemicals has way less to do with fear of getting cancer than it does with exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals where exposures at very low levels can have significant results. We are bombarded with chemicals every day. I can't live my life in a bubble, obviously, but I can take steps to reduce my exposure through personal care products.

Earth Mama Angel Baby. We got a giant refill size thing of it off amazon when DC was born and are still less than 1/4 through it at a year old. You do need the foaming dispenser thing, though, because it's not tear free (hasn't been an issue). Also, smells yummy!
