No idea, but if you're going on an international trip, why don't you do Global Entry instead? The TSA PreCheck is fine, but you don't get the CBP benefits and with Global Entry, your odds of getting PreCheck every time skyrocket.

So my husband and I went to the airport today to apply in person for TSA pre-check, gave our fingerprints, each paid $85, only to come to find out later when we called Turkish air to inform them we applied for it that it is only applicable to a few select domestic airlines – no international flights benefit from TSA pre-check. WTF?! Really would've been nice for the woman who took our money today to have told us that since we specifically told her we are flying international. So a heads up to those of you thought you could use it on international flights, you can't!

I've gotten boarding passes for DW and kids and checked bags under all 4 names while DW sat in the car with the kids.

But I don't know how far in advance you could do this. Probably no more than 4 hours.

That's why you get Global Entry instead. You should have read the FAQs.

No.

Missed that the thread turned into an international discussion.

Sorry.

Yup, it is absolutely 100% not possible for an international flight. We tried, when my father was very ill and we were trying to work a flight and not have to bring him to the airport until the last minute, to arrange something, TSA was very clear...no way, no how.

On the other hand, from a safety perspective, it's good to know.

uh no. maybe you should go read something.

You can get precheck on int'l flights from domestic airlines, but pretty much no int'l airlines (other than maybe air canada) participate in precheck. Global entry does you no good leaving the country (people who sign up for global entry get precheck, but there is nothing they get beyond that).

For an 11 pm flight, you want the kids to sleep on the flight NOT before. ive done several long haul flights alone with 2 DCs and the worst ones are when they do not sleep on the flight because they have slept for a few hours before.

This. So much this.

Once had a 10pm flight where my 3 year old fell asleep on the way to Dulles. That nap was enough to keep her up the whole flight. 9 hours later when we landed she fell dead asleep in my arms.

Now, I keep her wide awake until we get on the plane. Do NOT let your kids sleep before the flight.

How am I supposed to keep a 10-month old awake until midnight?

What time are you putting them down at home that they're going to be getting any substantial sleep before this? I agree with the past poster that having them fall asleep at the airport would be much more helpful.

Our kids go to bed at 7-7:30pm.

Wrong. Global Entry gets you PreCheck on participating airlines leaving the country. I fly to Asia or Europe on Delta and American once a month and always get PreCheck at my US departure airport.

Also, Global Entry gets you expedited customs and immigration coming back. This is pretty basic information.

This is not true. The TSA was wrong (not surprising).

I'm the poster who routinely checks in for an international flights online. You do NOT need to show your passport at the airport to check in.
