Does Whitman HS have a big drug problem?

Your biggest problem at Whitman is that the kids think that everyone at Whitman is a genius and will go on to be rich like their parents. A LOT cannot adjust to the thought (perish it!) of having to move to Rockville (gasp) when they finish college and can't afford Bethesda. So save up, OP, so you can buy your kids a house in bethesda when they graduate. Because if they can't live in Bethesda, they will feel like total failures because they have spent their entire childhood putting down any place else.

living in rockville is kind of like failing in life. Better than silver spring though

Not all private schools have drug problems...there are some k-8 schools (lowell/sheridan) that in 7-8th grade it is really unheard of. My kids go to Wilson- and it is heard of daily - hopefully your kid will make smart choices.

I think by HS its fairly common as a problem at least among some of the students. I was in HS in the 1980s in a very snooty town and I knew there were some (very wealthy) kids who habitually did cocaine in those days, openly at parties.

Having gone to schools with a variety of wealthy people, they tend to go for weed, coke, and whatever they can get from Mom & Dad's liquor cabinet / drub stash.

yes, totally absolutely agree! my Whitman 11th grader is so addicted to heroin I just don't know what I will ever do. Along with her friends....they're all doomed and addicted.
