Why do women need so many shoes?

Anonymous
Women don't need shoes. Women want shoes. It's a manifestation of their desire to be attractive to men.

Now if you're running out money, you may also have to deal with a shopping addiction. It's a real thing, and families have been ruined by it. I can't offer any solution though. Those things are not curable.

We need black, shoes in leather and patent leather, navy blue, bone, red, white and special colors to go with special outfits and we need all of these in different heel heights. We need shoes for evening, work, walking, shoes to wear with casual attire, work apparel and, most importantly, extremely comfortable shoes to wear when shopping for shoes.

I hope this helps you.

Whaaaaa? I have two pairs of black dress flats, one pair of black heels, two pairs of sandals, one pair of flip flops, black sneakers, and white sneakers. I have never owned patent leather, navy blue, bone, red, white, or any special colored shoes and I don't have any different heel heights.

Your sense of "need" is pretty distorted.

These are the show "needs" of every woman I know. You are a minimalist

Because she wants them.. Be glad she doesn't want a different car for every day of the week.

Wow, this must be why my shoes always look so cruddy. I usually try to wear 2-3 pairs through the whole year. They're always worn out a few months in, and I blame the shoddy construction. I guess instead I should be treating them as disposable. Ugh, $$$.

So many great outfits and design features are only available to the genetically blessed - the tall, the narrow-hipped, the long-legged, the high-waisted, the perfectly proportioned, the hourglass-shaped, the pencil-shaped, the full-breasted, the list goes on. The shoes only require that the woman has feet. The short, fat and ugly and the tall, slim and fair can enjoy a great pair of shoes with equal vigor. The barrier to entry with shoes is far, far lower and therefore even women who can't wear exciting clothes CAN wear fabulous shoes.

Same goes for purses, jewelry, nail polish, fake nails, and hair stuff. Equal opportunity for the fat and ugly women!

At least it's affordable. Fat/bald men have to rely on their cars

I don't buy shoes often. In my case, my DH has bought me more shoes than I buy myself, and most of the time I get rid of them because they don't fit.

OP here. Obviously my original post was a bit tongue in cheek. I was just curious as to women's fixation with shoes. I couldn't say how many pairs DW actually has, though it seems like a lot to me. Not sure how many are in regular rotation but I'd guess that there are at least 50 pairs strewn about the closet and bedroom. I don't think most of them are particularly expensive though.

Nothing thrills her more than some stranger commenting that they like her shoes though. That's a day-maker for her.

And before I get insulted, many of my friends compliment how fashionable I am. I just need about 2 shoes per season.

Mmm... I'm a trial lawyer who is in court everyday. 2 pairs of shoes is not going to do it. I think a lot also depends on your profession.

Does she give Imelda Marcos a run for her money?

Women just love shoes. A lot of them.

We love to have a nice selection to choose from, depending on our mood that day.

We have such a huge variety to choose from too.

High heels, wedges, platform, sandals, pumps, flats, flip flops, tennis shoes...The list goes on and on.

Men have less options...

OP, When was the last time you went down on DW? How's your sex life in general? Before I started my online affairs I spent hours googling shoes. Now I might own 10-15 pairs and spend that time chatting instead. Priorities, satisfaction, the dopamine factor.

I have one pair of sneakers, some flip-flops, 2 pairs of heels, a pair of winter boots, a pair of flats and that is literally it. I've always thought something was wrong with me because I can't rekate to the show obsession thing. I also have no interest in fancy bags. Saves us $ but I feel like a freak.

Just to add I'm a social worker (currently SAHM) and didn't need nice shoes for work, so I'm sure that makes a difference.

Also, weight gain and loss doesn't affect the fit.
