You are an idiot. Really. |
LOL! I want to school for media production and landed my first job at a right wing talk radio station and worked directly with one of the bigger nutjobs out there. My friends made fun of me for going to the dark side, and I was intimidated walking in there. But when I did, I realized I was surrounded by hippie, pot smoking, multicultural 20something instead of just the old white men I was expecting. Still friends with many of them today and we joke about how we sold our souls for those jobs. It was just a job. We were producing **entertainment**, and looking for the next hot button issue. When we came across a great idea for a story that fit the station's views it was golden...I didn't have to agree with the position taken; I just had to know that it would generate some buzz. |
Yes and yes. My mom is a victim of confirmation bias. She will only read crazy right wing blogs that support what she hears on Fox. If she comes across an idea or viewpoint that counters a Fox viewpoint, it blows a fuse in her brain. She has lost the ability to think logically. |
Just a thought: Perhaps your mother is upset about your sanctimonious preaching and utter disregard for her viewpoint. You sound like you are disrespectful and mean to her. Don't you appreciate her for raising you to be able to have your own viewpoint? She probably paid for your college education, too. You sound like a young idealist who is incapable of rational debate. |
I really hope you are being ironic. Or this is a joke? I am 45, paid for college, and never preach anything. I am not disrespectful, just baffled. How do you get that I am incapable of rational debate? |
I agree. I've read two of three pages of rant, and not one example of what the 'lies' are. |
Not the PP but you don't sound baffled. You sound sanctimonious. |
Here's one: http://www.latimes.com/world/europe/la-fg-britain-birmingham-profile-20150130-story.html The supposed "no-go" zones in Birmingham, England. |
It took my dad too. He was a hyper-educated guy who used to be able to make rationale arguments with facts behind them. We disagree but respected each other, especially because we both could make good points. I'm liberal but in addition to reading NYT daily, I read the WSJ and FT. I like seeing both sides. But now? He just parrots back what he hears without thinking about what he is saying. He doesn't form his on opinions anymore or try to get people to see them. It's "I heard it on Fox so it must be true." It's unfortunate. I loved our discussions but the last seven years have really been a put off. |
The posts about people taking these jobs knowing full well they are producing dishonest entertainment are so depressing. Why are people knowingly participating in something that's changing the psyche and future of our country? |
There are some conservative posters who make thoughtful points and articulate their values. Above poster is the opposite of that. Really, a smartness contest? Are you a five year old? |
For the love of god. . .Do a simple internet search of dishonest reporting from Fox, and you will have plenty to read. Oh wait. . .you don't want to stretch outside your comfort zone. You don't want to read anything that might force you to consider another way of thinking about things. |
Congrats you just lost! |
