Hell no. |
It is not a contest. It is not about who is smarter. The issue is engaging in thoughtful, deliberate dialogue about important matters. Fox robs its viewers of this critical thinking capability. So instead, they say things like, "Hey, wanna bet I am smarter? Want a contest?" |
I am you. Luckily, she doesn't talk to me about it her wacky opinions so I don't have to listen to it. I feel like she spends all day with FOX News on in the background while she is on the internet confirming all of her wacky ideas and looking up random recipes. |
My mother is a stupid libtard. So is my FIL.
|
Can't even think of an appropriate smartness contest. Well that was over much more quickly than I expected! Feels good to win. PS - if you think you're getting "thoughtful, deliberate dialogue" from any comparable liberal (MSNBC) or centrist (CNN) mass media source you are kidding yourself. God forbid you think you're getting that from Democracy Now. The issue with most libs is they don't like the viewpoints on Fox, which is fine, but just say so and stop dressing it up it BS due process explanations. If you want to point to CSPAN or NPR or something, OK, sure, that's somewhat better (though still wildly imbalanced) but in no way comparable to Fox. It's like saying chicken is better than beef because coq au vin is preferable to beef jerky. |
I can tell from your word choice that you're probably going to lose. |
You think you have problems...my son is gay and he's addicted to right wing pundits like Hannity and Rush. I spent my whole life fighting for equal rights, and here my kid is listening to these morons. I just don't get it. |
Just be glad she wasn't abducted by CNN, MSNBC or any of the other fake news channels, op. There's still hope... |
Just be honest though. Do you really think CNN is any different with Democrats? We truly don't have a single news media that gives honest news. |
+1 Let me preface by saying I don't watch U.S. cable news. I am always amazed by how quickly people jump to judge something they no idea about. OP is not abducted by Fox, how does she know what's been said? From her mother? Is OP sure her mother understood what what said? I mean OP had to inherit her intelligence from someone, right? People, if you criticize a news outlet or a TV/radio personality of any persuasion, be so kind as to quote what it is exactly you are criticizing. Because a pointless rant about something you allegedly don't listen to/watch makes you sound like a real dumb ass. |
on the upside she and her demographic will be dead soon enough. republicans marching to the graveyard - literally ![]() |
Actually, more and more people are registering as independents. Which means people are slowly starting to wake up to the fact that neither of the two parties serves their interests. Democrats are bleeding dry as bad, otherwise they would not be so bent on legalizing more constituents.
BTW, talking about some person's mother's death makes you a dick. Even on an anon board. You are welcome. |
Ugh my parents are the same way. I don't have an issue with an opposing viewpoint, but what drives me crazy is their lack of believing anything else or even listening to anything else. It's not possible to have a discussion about politics with them- they are so close-minded and repeat the FNC line on anything. So frustrating. |
They got my dad, too. He had open heart surgery two years ago and he had to give up Fox for his recovery because it spikes his blood pressure.
You people who defend this entertainment-sold-as-news ought to be ashamed of yourselves, and all the false equivalency doesn't change the fact that Fox tells outright lies at a rate no one else would ever even conceive of doing. You probably also think the Democrats have gotten as extreme as the Republicans, even though zero sources agree with you. |
OP - Your mom is in good company. Fox outranks all the other cable news networks by about 4 times. There is a reason for that. Fox not only presents news that other networks choose not to present, but they also present panels with opposing viewpoints.
Perhaps you may want to talk with your mother and actually listen to what she says. You may actually learn something. You sound like a typical youth - thinking you know more about life than your parents who have experienced a whole lot more than you. |
