Neighbors let dogs run free in neighborhood

How is that more annoying than the deep, loud barking of large dogs? The size of the dog shouldn't matter…it's the principle that matters. People shouldn't let any pet run around loose--besides the poop and annoyance factor, it's just not safe for the pets themselves.

It's not safe for the children or the dogs. Little dogs nip, and they antagonize bigger animals, dogs included. If a one dog hears another dog bark, then both dogs bark. You know that, right?

Also, would want your children playing in the yard and running into dog poop that doesn't belong there? Even if I had a dog, my dogs (in the past) always prefer a section of the yard, so we would know where to clean up, every time.

Little dogs being let out to poop in someone else's yard? You are okay with that? Really?

What if your little dog gets eaten by a fox or another dog that doesn't want him on their property (rightfully so)? Then what?

Are you this irresponsible with everything? Gosh, no wonder the entitled attitude. It sure does not make up for your lack of common sense and brains.

You have to report it. Even little dogs can hurt smaller pets: terriers were bred to hunt down little animals, after all. Little dogs can hurt/kill some child's kitten or bunny. Also, do you really want to take off your shoes while gardening and step in dog poop?

My parents have a horse farm. They have one automatic response to dogs that appear on their property. I wish this response were permissible in the suburbs.

I had a similar problem. I first tried the talking to the pet owner approach. Non confrontational, hey your dogs are causing this problem.... Big mistake. she went ballistic on me. Now I just automatically take a picture of her dogs and call animal control.

I had a similar problem. Neighbors were totally unconcerned and annoyed with us. Next time their dog was in my yard, penned it in our back yard and called animal control. AC was familiar with the family and dogs (other people had called, not just us), the dog went to the pound (it's a no-kill shelter. If the dog wasn't claimed in 2 weeks, it would be put up for adoption).

Normally, if I see a loose dog, I assume it's lost and will try to contact the owner. It's what I want someone to do if my dog gets out. But, for those dogs who are out frequently and the owners don't care, I call AC. Believe me, you aren't the only one bothered by it and they'll never know it was you.

That must be what happened to our dog.
Animal control told us what time he was picked up and what road. Is there a way I could ask them for more information?
My dog is traumatized by the event. He is small and our has a 1/3 acre that backs onto woods, we are in a dead end street. He obviously was not lost or causing a nuisance

Not in our neighborhood. The large rambunctious puppy a few doors down ran into our yard several times to poop and every time I caught him I rang the bell and asked the owner to take care of it. She wasn't happy, but after a while it stopped happening.

Report them, they aren't above the law no matter how much they want to live as an "independent community". Or do what that guy did recently and when the dog rushes you just shoot it dead.

I hope you learned to keep your dog on a leash or put up a fence. What if your dog was hit by a car or hurt by another animal? The only person at fault for traumatizing your dog is you.

why do you say that? There is very little traffic where we live and our dog does not roam far.

Who are these bad dog owners who let their dogs roam free? The poor dog could get hit by a car or injured by another animal.

I would call animal control.

You must be a troll. Your dog obviously roamed far enough for long enough to get picked up by AC.

AC told me the name of the road where he was picked up. I live on this road and it is not a long road

Do you know if I could attach a fitbit type of a tracker to see his movements?

Small dogs? A great dane runs loose in our neighborhood, comes into my yard and growls at me. Sometimes in the dark.

I don't know about that, but I do know that they sell this really innovative new thing called a LEASH! Seriously, no one cares that your little dog doesn't roam far or that your road is not long or anything else. Keep your damn dog off my lawn!

PP, it only takes one car to kill your dog. Or a bigger dog.
