I really don't know it, nor do I believe it is true in any way that would significantly impact me, especially considering that where I live I have my choice of walking to two different grocery chains, thus cutting down on the cost of transit to do my shopping. Then again I'm not a food economist. |
I live WOTP but often shop EOTP for a variety of reasons. I am pretty aware of my spending and have never noticed a significant difference in overall prices. |
| Food economist, get two identical carts of goods in van ness giant and a giant just across rockcreek park and report back to us. |
+1. And when we bought in 2009, we also looked EOTP (Mt. Pleasant, area around U St, Shaw, Cap Hill) and WOTP. The cheapest house we could find that fit our criteria was WOTP, so here we are. I couldn't care less about "living the liberal lifestyle" because I am a liberal from Europe and have nothing to prove. Of course I also had no clue the park was some sort of ideological divide (what I did naively notice back then, looking at crime maps, was that crime was significantly lower WOTP, and of course I thought that was a plus). |
I used to shop at Wholefoods in Logan Circle and now at Wholefoods in Friendship Heights. I have not noticed a difference in prices, and I am very cost conscious. I did, however, recently notice that a product was cheaper at the Wholefoods on River Rd. So I guess the really frugal people should live and shop in Bethesda! |
| How does really frugal and whole foods get into the same post? |
The thread was removed when dumb, dumb OP realized that she was going to be easily identifiable bc there are so few oob in K at Lafayette. She quickly realized it wasn't very smart to mock her dcs future classmates and their families when she essentially removed her cloak of anonymity. |
OP asked Jeff to remove it. |
+1. Her self-righteousness and condescension, especially in conjunction with her utter cluelessness about Upper NW, are really nauseating, and do not represent most EOTP parents. |
This is so true. Every time someone posts a budget saying "I know I can't afford WOTP ... help me find a home" people post links to housing WOTP that the poster actually can afford. Stop believing anonymous hype. |
I shop at the Bethesda Safeway because it is cheaper than the Social Safeway. Though the Social Safeway is the same price as the Park and Shoot (Safeway on the Hill, SE). All that said the Giant on Wisconsin has a beer and wine bar. I will pay anything for that! |
Oh no, not this one again. Have you ever compared the prices between Wholefoods and Giant or Safeway on regular groceries? Sure, Wholefoods has some really expensive stuff, but it is the same or cheaper on a lot of staples. And if I want to save money on produce, I go to Trader Joe's or Rodman's. |
No one buys produce at Trader Joe's. Crazy talk. |
