| a folding mattress? yes |
| I'd be interested in hearing some of the prior posters who found this idea yucky or disgusting weigh in on how they feel about hotel beds? |
| I am just thinking over purchasing precisely this type of a mattress, it is called folding mattress. In spite of many controversial opinions, I see only pros here - it is compact, it is portable and even able to substitute a sleeping place. Folding mattress is perfect as a temporary solution, later can become a sleeping bed for guests and it doesn't take much space. Here is some info on the best models of 2017/2018 https://sleepissimple.com/folding-mattress/ , all are available on Amazon. Another significant advantage is loyal price, perfect for people who're not ready to spend too much. If I am not mistaking, the most expensive folding mattress costs about 200$, I think it is very affordable. |
+1. For half price I would definitely buy it. Because it’s so much cheaper, even if it got a bit of wear and tear, you can replace it faster because you spent much less. Also There’s some comedian who does a really good routine making fun of people who say that they would never buy a mattress that has been used by one owner but don’t see an issue staying in a hotel bed that has been slept in by 500 people. |
+1 It isn't like people are doing anything illicit or gross on the store model bed. Unlike when you go to a hotel and sleep on beds there ... |
Yup.
Exactly. I get that people have a visceral response, but it's from a cognitive disconnect. |
My germophobia and miserliness are at war here. If I bought the mattress, I'd spritz it with a water/bleach spray and air it out for a week. I'd put it in an allegy case, then sheets, etc. |
Never stay in hotels. Lysol spray/ sheets from home for rentals. |
That's fascinating. Thanks. Follow-up: do you think you are outside the norm? (not a jerk question, really interested to know) |
That’s sad. I guess you don’t travel much. How do your kids feel about your inability to stay in a hotel? |
