Working from home today after working 16 hour days all week this week and heading into a weekend of travel for work tomorrow. Today's work outfit consists of yoga pants, a concert t shirt, and a cover of blankets and pillows and one large dog

Yesterday: grey pencil skirt with cream pinstripes (Limited), cream v-neck 3/4 sleeve sweater (Ann Taylor), nude patent pumps (Nine West).

Today: black pixie pants (J Crew), maroon top with matching long, open-front cardigan (Talbots), black ankle boots (Munro). The boots aren't the most stylish things, but they're great for this morning's weather.

I like seeing people post the brands because it's fun to see how everyone mixes up different brands. I think it's inspriring to see outfits combine inexpensive base pieces (Costco, H&M, etc) with higher-end stuff. I'd like to do more of that!

3/4 length thin black sweater (nordstrom.. no idea on brand), black and white striped short-ish skirt (target- 3" above knee), black leggings, coach two-toned black/brown knee high boots. This weather BLOWS.

I'm the one who posted that outfit. While I know the PP was referring to the shoes as not being appropriate, they definitely were.

That said, I'm a size 10 and I rocked that outfit. It's very flattering. First time I wore it and DH joked that I should wear it everyday.

Yesterday: white Brooks Brothers button down shirt with long-ish gray cardigan from Club Monaco, Navy Ralph Lauren wide leg pants and black patent leather kate spade wedges, one of my favorite outfits

Today: tailor-made (in asia, super cheap, copy of a club monaco suit) gray suit, black ribbed tank top from Club Monaco, black wedge ankle boots from Dolce Vita that look bad with the outfit but had to b/c of the weather.

reading this makes me realize that i haven't been to a club monaco in years but some of my staples have lasted 5+ years and are still going strong!

Storq maternity leggings (black)
James Perse sweatshirt dress (black)
Gap scarf (red plaid)
Coach knee high flat boots. (black)

When is spring? Also looking forward to non maternity clothing!

Yesterday: gray straight leg ankle pants-LOFT, purple space-dyed tunic sweater-bought at Stein mart, black Cole Haan ankle boots.
Today: rolled boy-friend jeans, Chuck Taylor slip-ons, concert tee, gray polkadot sweater (Talbots).

Reading these makes me feel really dumpy and un-stylish. How do you all find your style and choose the right pieces to look cool and still be yourself?? I actually hired a stylist to go shopping with me, and while I did learn some things from her, I find that I hate 90% of what I bought because it doesn't really flatter me or make me feel good. I think I bought it because she was telling me how good it looked and I wanted to believe her. She is an "expert" I hired, after all. Now, I think she chose things that look good on HER body type, not mine. We are totally different, and what I chose makes me look shapeless and dumpy. So mad I wasted that money and still don't know how to shop.

^^^ If you could wear one outfit every day, what would it be? Then upgrade it. Is it great jeans and a band tee shirt? Maybe wear the band tee shirt with a pencil skirt (a favorite move of mine). Wear a blazer with the jeans and tee. Wear a really fun shaped cardigan. Just expand on the outfit that you love the most, and you will feel better about your wardrobe, I promise. But you need to be true to you.
