I was doing really well, until last week, and stopped running entirely. Even though the weather was good through the weekend and this morning, I haven't run.
It's almost like I'm.... nervous. Is that weird? Does anyone else get that feeling? I know I need to just put on shoes and go, but it's such a weird feeling. |
20 miles?? Good god. You are my hero. |
| I can't believe the number of runners I've seen running in the street over the past week or so. I drove past one woman who was running on Nebraksa Ave pushing a stroller with an infant car seat on it! She was running around parked cars, inches from oncoming traffic! And this was when roads where still slushy. WHY OH WHY would you risk your life (and your baby's!) instead of just skipping a day of exercise? |
Ok, I definitely wouldn't take a baby out in it, but it's not just a matter of "skipping a day of exercise." If you don't run every time it's icy or wet or there's standing snow piles, that's like a good three or four months that you're not running outdoors. I ran on Sligo Creek Parkway this weekend, as it was the only long, dry stretch of road I could find near me. There was almost no shoulder because of the snow. I ran facing traffic, wearing a visibility-yellow hat, and was just prepared to jump into the snow if there was a jerk driver who didn't give any room. You do what you have to do if you want to run a good spring race. |
