Ok, I know I'm super late to comment, as these episodes have already come and gone. I DVR'd them and I'm just now watching.
Once again, I'm stunned by the need for this family to make such enormous deals out of everything. Just saw DaytonAuroraBrianna (as it always seems to be pronounced) get adopted and while it was touching and everything, it just seemed to go on and on. Maybe it's the producers editing everything so that it's super-repetitive. So So sick of hearing how Meri divorced Kody so he could marry Robyn and adopt the kids, etc. WE GET IT! Why must they constantly repeat everything. And the parties, the endless parties. What, exactly, is it that Kody does for a living?? How do they afford these constant parties and trips? Also, the presents: the three diamond necklace for Meri, the expensive watch for Kody, the portrait for Kody, the plaques for DAB. I've watched this show from the beginning, so I'm sort of fond of all of them, but they also confound me to no end. Christine's histrionics drive me batty. Meri's sulkiness and self-absorption is so boring. Robyn is melodramatic about everything. Janelle is the only one who doesn't bother me. I can't even imagine choosing to live in what seems like a constant state of chaos. |
| I still watch too. Robyn has grown on me- I always felt she was sort of vapid, and maybe she is, but for some reason I like her more now. I agree Meri doesn't need that big house, she only wanted it because everyone else was getting one. Christine- eh, she's all right. I find her to be the most melodramatic. Janelle is easily the smartest tool in that shed, by far. |
| Janelle is the only one I could tolerate in real life. She is bad ass and was the only one really working to support the family in the past. |
|
Christine is dumb as a box of rocks. She leveled off with the intelligence and social skills of a tween.
Meri is pathetic in her attempts to stay relevant. It hurts to see her flailing about to find meaning in her life now that her husband is so clearly done with her. |

What is going on with the whole "catfishing" situation? Was Meri really having an emotional affair online with someone who turned out to be a woman? I wonder why she keeps saying she's worried she's "put her family at risk" - surely she didn't give out her true identity? Kind of confused and honestly, it seems like they're trying to drum up any drama at all.
I wonder if this family has any idea what's going on outside their own lives. We never see them react to any world news or current events - they're completely wrapped up in the minutiae of their own lives. Every tiny thing is built up into a huge drama. And yet, I'm still watching. Grr... |
Yes, she did give her true identity. She sent him/her pictures of herself and talked about the details of the relationships among the five spouses. She shared private information and planned to leave the family to be with this person. The catfisher is supposedly holding this info she divulged over her head. |
I love that you know this, since I didn't have to look it up
|
Wow, I can't believe she would have been so careless! Where did you get this info? Is the show over for the season, or will they delve into this some more? So bizarre. |
|
Well, the show's back. Anyone else still watching? So why is Meri saying there is a "Group" catfishing her? Is it a group of women? Are they blackmailing her? Why is she so distraught?
And why do all of them seem to think joining the National Guard on reserve means being actually deployed overseas and killed in Iraq? National Guard is called up for National and state emergencies by governors. Like the Civilian Air Patrol. It's rarely, if ever, called up by the President for deployment overseas. Do these people not even understand that? |
|
The best part is how Meri has completely deflected from the fact that she was definitely having an emotional affair and possibly having a phone/online affair. She even went to disneyand hotel to meet "Sam" (this was before her ultimatum of "meet me of else"). Really, Meri? What were you meeting him for?
Meri is seriously the worst. Anyone who would demand equal share of money when they only have one child and their sister wives have 6 each (and are on welfare) is an asshole. Don't get me started on her needing a 4500 square foot home to live alone in. |
That was true years ago, but since the Iraq wars, it isn't as cut and dried and there is a very real threat of being deployed. |
I hate to have to 'defend' any one of these people... But the new houses (Vegas, right?) were in a specific community, and I'm pretty sure they all had to pick certain 'models.' So Meri had to get a huge house even though she didn't need it - that said, lady didn't need a wet bar. |
|
National guard is actually deployed overseas? I looked it up after (figuring it was just another way for them to eek out another story line for 45 min.). It's usually state emergency - national disaster or rioting. In the latter case we've seen the President do it (call up the National Guard) for rioting but I've never heard of them ever being sent overseas. |
I think Meri's been miserable ever since Kody married the second wife. She's definitely getting the least out of the situation. |
