Whoa .... I'm too scared to write anything on DCUM these days. There are some crazies out there ... starting with OP.
Very sad story, though. |
| I know this is a horrible subject....but in between the "VISA" poster and the "milking the cow" poster I am laughing my ass off! |
| Conditioning caps are sold at Sally's they are disposable shower caps ... Why use a trash bag?! |
| I used Listerine on my uncircumsized son's hair, for whom I did not get the rotavirus vaccine for. |
| Who would let their 18 mo sleep with a plastic bag on his/her head? I vaccinate but used the cetaphil method because it is one of the most reliable methods. |
| I'm pretty sure that my mom used to comb mayonnaise into her hair as a conditioner. Putting mayonnaise on your head is not dangerous. Leaving a toddler alone with a plastic bag on her head is. |
You can't revoke someone's citizenship. Who's the idiot now? |
| What 18m old gets lice anyhow? Poor kid with idiot parents. |
+1 lmao |
There's lice in daycare. Anyway, it wasn't the mayo that killed her, it was the plastic bag over her head that she was sleeping in that killed her. |
This is the equivalent of telling people to not use RID because someone fed their baby the contents of the bottle instead of applying it on the head. I mentioned this to my dad. He told me that when he was a small kid back in India, they would mix up some DDT with cooking oil and apply it to the head. |
Please. I am anti-circ, on the fence about natural lice remedies, but definitely pro vac. I will not be lumped in with the anti-vac people. People on this thread are making assumptions. Having been through the lice thing before, I know the RID medicine isn't particularly cheap. Maybe this family just couldn't afford the medicine - and in all honesty, I would try many things before that stuff for a child that young - but a plastic bag, never! Mayonnaise had nothing to do with this poor child's death. |

My kid gave me lice last year. I had the lice lady come over after I had already given myself a RID treatment. The lice would NOT die with the RID. The lady showed me by pulling out a live one, putting it on a paper towel in the sink, pouring RID right on it, and it was still wiggling around. Gross, I know. She spent hours on my hair, picking it all out. Then she advised me and DC to do the cetaphil on ourselves for a few days. Why, because the RID many times DOESN'T work. But you still need a base to coat the hair and suffocate the lice.
I don't understand why she used a plastic bag and allowed her to sleep in it. If anything use a shower cap, but NEVER let them go to sleep in it!!! |
Or maybe from a sibling. Normal, clean and educated people still get lice. |
When my in-laws were cihldren, the remedy was kerosene. |
