Working at Ft Meade - where to live?

Clemens Crossing cluster in Columbia may be an option for you (21044 zip code) - right near 29 and 32.

Rivers Edge is lovely but you are landlocked by 29. An accident on 29 the other week stranded people in and out of the neighborhood for hours. We decided against it for that reason - plus, no bike rides out of your neighborhood, etc.

30 minutes to Ft. Meade? I would be shocked if that's the case during rush hour.

I'm not sure why everyone is saying that Rockville schools are all good and only a few Silver Spring schools are good. Twinbrook is 65% FARMS and 47% ESOL. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that but if that school was in Silver Spring people would blast it as not being a good enough school. That being said, there are at least a dozen elementary schools in Silver Spring which have good records and don't have such a high FARMs or ESOL rate... if that is of concern to the OP.

I've lived in Bowie my entire life (45 years) and love it with a passion, so I would recommend it. My husband's family lived in Bowie in the seventies when his father worked at Fort Meade. Having said that, Crofton is probably your ideal location--very close, quite affordable, reliably good schools. Good luck!

No. It's technically gambrills.

It's called Wegmans Crofton with a Gambrills address since you want to be technical.

The only person who was talking about Rockville schools here was me (the twinbrook poster). I wouldn't say anything negative about most of the silver spring schools, either! I actually used to teach in one,and would feel totally at ease sending my child there if I lived in silver spring. Honestly, I don't think any of us posting about ft Meade would be the kind to knock these schools!.

Oh, and ps-- the Marc idea from odenton was clever!
