My 5.5 year old just searched for "Nakid women" on the ipad...

His "exposure" is normal...shirtless people at the pool, sidewalk bikers/runners who doesn't wear shirts, all the DC museums with sculpture/art with topless men/women. We have a 2 year old so when she runs around before a bath without a shirt on we say "silly baby sister, you have no shirt, you're 'nakid'!"

I'm all ears if anyone has a good app to manage ipad access!

Good grief.

Americans are such unbelievable prudes.

I'm American and I agree.. seriously..everyone needs to unclench. it's just a human body!

Normal at 5.5, I remember DS discussing them then. Forgot about them until 10, now 13 and I'm sure thinking about them A LOT.

All I can say is the internet is a nightmare for this kind of innocuous but suddenly not stuff.

God yes. The neurotic twits seem to be out in force.

This is the height of the "bathroom talk" stage, and the newfound knowledge that they human body can be shocking. 5 year olds expose themselves to each other, moon each other, talk about their private parts, and giggle if you say the word "but". The idea that they can find a picture of something "naughty" makes them feel powerful and grown up. They aren't interested in looking at pictures of naked women, but that doesn't mean that they aren't interested in finding them.

Finally, the voice of reason!

Not normal for this age. I've never heard a 5 year old do this before.

I think it's pretty normal. Not that it should be allowed, but the curiosity is normal.

When my son was a little younger than this, he went through a stage where he was quite obsessed with breasts. One day when I picked him up from preschool, I pulled out a drawing from his cubby that had a stick figure with long hair and giant round boobs. (I am very flat-chested, so it was not a portrait of me!)

He's had a pretty normal upbringing. There is no porn in our house (for real) and limited exposure to TV. I don't think it was a sexual thing - just curiosity.

He is 7 now and has outgrown the boob thing but still thinks anything to do with butts, farts, balls, etc. is hilarious.

-1. I think it is normal 5 year old silliness and you are projecting sexual interest on garden variety potty talk.

I have a 6 year old. I think I know what a typical one is like. Potty humor giggles at silly things, fine. A deliberate search like that? No.

Maybe he just isn't as motivated.
