+ 2 and I'm an attorney. You still have to educate yourself on SN law and read up on IEPs. Or hire a consultant, or an SN lawyer. |
| Kindergarten at MCPS with 26 kids, no aide, no rotating aide and my child learning nothing but things they learned in preschool. Hanging out with kids that don't speak English. Good times! |
Oh, the absolute horror! |
| Trying to get just a 504 in a FCPS ES school was a nightmare. Add to that bullying on the playground that was never seen by certain teachers, but was seen by a teacher who told me privately what was really going on. Reported it to the classroom teacher and the principal denied ever hearing anything. Thankfully we switched schools. |
Curious which MCPS cluster you are in? |
Yes and by the time you are done you no longer trust the school administrators. We gave up - I feared I would stroke over the process, I was so highly strung. Kid is in private and everyone is happy except our bank accounts. |
My DS had that teacher. He would wake up at night shouting her name in nightmares. Parents who did not have this teacher would just be like, glad its you not me. |
DS had a high school teacher who walked out and left. Just left. School couldn't replace her for months --due to proper procedures. Subs in the meantime. |
Says the person whose kids do not go to school with 2/3 of the class Spanish speaking and 50% FARMS. |
I think my son had the same teacher. Did she teach third grade? She was a nightmare. |
This sounds A LOT like a teacher who used to work at my school. However, she taught an upper elementary grade here before moving on to another school. She was a nightmare for her coworkers as well as her students. |
Yes. Third grade = 8 years old. What a bully!

| DC charter school teachers who were incapable of handling a room full of 3-year olds for full day preschool who insisted on trying to label my kid special needs. A year of stress, specialists who were all over the map on their "findings," and $$ later, we finally realized they were lazy, clueless bastards and pulled our kid from the school. And guess what? He was totally fine in a new preschool. |
+1 My kid was bullied on the playground by Spanish-speaking kids at our Title I school with over 65% FARMS. It was a nightmare. |
