but true |
It's ignorant because you're assuming that most if not all siblings and legacies are not smart or worthy of getting admitted without the "hook." |
This just isn't true, sorry. |
Wow, that is impressive for EA/ED this year. With your obvious inside knowledge, I am sure that you will be happy to share the breakdown. |

This thread is so.fucking.stupid.
Why, people? Why are you so crazy competitive? |
GDS = Great Deal of Success. |
|
Bullis? is that a joke?
the school that accepts kids who flunk out of area privates I guess it has target market to go after... |
|
I guess this thread is what happens when school is delayed and the children take over a parents' forum.
If the OP is an actual parent, I would say that a better question to ask is what school is the best fit for your child. Among the most selective Washington area privates, pretty much all the students come from families with high expectations and the students set really high standards for themselves. I don't have any doubt my DC will go on to a highly selective college. But, I want DC to have time to be a teenager, experience life, and grow emotionally. That means I don't want DC doing homework until midnight every day just for the sake of doing homework. |
You beat me to it. |

rigorous
adjective 1. demanding strict attention to rules and procedures • rigorous discipline syn: stringent, tight 2. rigidly accurate; allowing no deviation from a standard • rigorous application of the law syn: strict How is this a good thing? |
This! I'm not sure you want to throw the name of your child's school out there but I'd love to know. I'm frustrated with our search. I want DC to get a good education but to have the time to enjoy his youth! |
pft-I went to school in HS in smalls-ville Iowa and went to MIT on a full ride. School is what you make of it. |
|
The pp is so right. I went to no name elementary and high school and got full ride all the way through to graduate level in top schools.
As pp said, school is what you make of it. |
Not the PP, but this is why we picked Maret. |
That's 25 % of the class. Well done! |
