Nobody is implying all of WF products are organic - the ones that are organic clearly say so - e.g., there is WF organic milk and WF conventional milk, etc.

Are you looking for packaged food? That might not be any cheaper or better at WF.

Take your kid there to pick up some produce and salad bar. You can browse the aisles to see if there's anything that appeals to you?

We shop there a lot, but try to stick to whole foods instead of packaged foods. I like the options there for produce, dairy, grains, nuts, meat, fish, cheese, wine, etc. Way better than our local Giant.

Outside of breads the baked goods are not very good though - don't ever order a cake from WF. Big mistake.

I think it all depends on what foods your family likes to eat.

Thanks. We go to the Friendship Heights Whole Foods. I can't stand the Giant that is over there so if I have to go in a store now, its Whole Foods. The produce does look better to me in Whole Foods, though Peapod has come a long way in their produce deliveries. As far as packaged foods, I was wondering if there were particular types of items in WF that aren't available in Giant. Even frozen stuff.

I do get some frozen foods that my kids like:
- columbia river organics veggies - they seem "fresher" for some reason - my kids gobble them up
- dr. praeger's fish sticks - only lightly breaded and my kids love them
- applegate chicken sausage

I like the frozen brown rice - easy to add to meals.

Just saw meyer lemons (fresh) this week - yum! And the satsumas (wrinkly mandarin oranges) are awesome. I also get the fresh-squeezed OJ from the machine when anyone starts to get sick.

A nice selection of olive oils.

I'll try to pay more attention next time I go.

Is it truly fresh? Not previously frozen. I usually buy frozen so I'm wondering.

My DS does too. Where else can you get a hand pick-ed kid sized lunch?

I buy eggs, milk, and butter at WF. The milk is considerably cheaper than Safeway, etc especially if 4 gallons are purchased.

My DS, 6, like Bearitos Whole Grain Pita chips. He takes them for morning snack at school. Speaking of school they have certified nut free sbacks if your child needs these for himself or for school.

Baby carrots, they tend to have the really small ones that he likes.

Applewood Farms Big Apple Dogs. The are nitrate free and as healthful as a hotdog can be. While good, they are not the delicious nitrate filled ones my parents used to buy.

We buy many other things there is almos nothing there we couldn't buy elsewhere. Typically we shop at costco twice a month and supplement with quick trips to WF.

I don't buy all organic, at all, but I find the following to be the best deal at WF if you require these items:
-- organic milk (can't beat $5.99 for a gallon, although same price at TJs)
-- sticks of butter
-- bulk anything
-- olive oil
-- plain unsalted peanut butter

a few other things when on sale.
