Op here, so setting aside the debate over who has cheaper of the same thing, are there any great items/brands at WF that you love that I can't otherwise get at giant?
Are you looking for packaged food? That might not be any cheaper or better at WF. Take your kid there to pick up some produce and salad bar. You can browse the aisles to see if there's anything that appeals to you? We shop there a lot, but try to stick to whole foods instead of packaged foods. I like the options there for produce, dairy, grains, nuts, meat, fish, cheese, wine, etc. Way better than our local Giant. Outside of breads the baked goods are not very good though - don't ever order a cake from WF. Big mistake. I think it all depends on what foods your family likes to eat.
Thanks. We go to the Friendship Heights Whole Foods. I can't stand the Giant that is over there so if I have to go in a store now, its Whole Foods. The produce does look better to me in Whole Foods, though Peapod has come a long way in their produce deliveries. As far as packaged foods, I was wondering if there were particular types of items in WF that aren't available in Giant. Even frozen stuff.
I do get some frozen foods that my kids like: - columbia river organics veggies - they seem "fresher" for some reason - my kids gobble them up - dr. praeger's fish sticks - only lightly breaded and my kids love them - applegate chicken sausage I like the frozen brown rice - easy to add to meals. Just saw meyer lemons (fresh) this week - yum! And the satsumas (wrinkly mandarin oranges) are awesome. I also get the fresh-squeezed OJ from the machine when anyone starts to get sick. A nice selection of olive oils. I'll try to pay more attention next time I go. :D
