Why? I keep reading this and thinking, MAYBE "Anal-eese?"

Yes, there is (or was) at least one poster on DCUM who was obsessed with this.

One more vote for Annika!

My twins are Annika and Julianna, so I'm biased toward those. Another friend has an Anja, though I'm not sure that it was chosen for its "Dutchness". I loved a little cousin named Floortje when I visited family many years ago, but that name wouldn't really work here.

But I highly recommend Americanizing the spellings of some of the Dutch names (as we obviously did with Annika, rather than Aneke). The pronunciation rules are so different that you may also want to be careful of anything ending in "je" as well and change it to "ia". Just to make everyone's lives easier.

I love Annika. I know a 10 yo one who is just the sweetest girl.

But I would spell them Elsa and Maika (or Myka). I'm not the PP.

My Dutch grandmother was Muriel, and I like old-fashioned names, but that sounds a little old even to me.

I like Ingrid, but know a few of those that are young so it's not that special.
