federal pay increase of 1% - did your salary increase this year?

Private sector, but at a non profit. 6% raise, no bonus.

Re: FERS - I'm the fed for 9 years and honestly I don't care about FERS - I just assume I'm not getting anything. I oils personally prefer to opt out of it and invest that money myself or add it to my TSP. And FERS has already been messed with for new hires. There was an article in the Post about Ron Johnson being the upcoming chairman of the committee overseeing Feds and his views on civilian employees. It was pretty awful.

Most CSRS folks have left where I am but in my office we have one who just wants to wait for her 42 years - she doesn't do much but talk about leaving. I think if there were a buyout, she'd take it.

Most young hardworking Feds I know feel the same way and want to leave. It's not so stable anymore (furloughs, shut downs) and I know personally my job isn't flexible

Private sector, health management consulting. Just under a 2% bonus and a 2.5% raise.

1%. No bonus (ever at my current agency). It works out to a cut - and then factor in the furloughs, I'm basically even.

I'm young (33), well educated, and experienced....I've got my second private sector job interview scheduled already. Ready to jump ship - there already is a serious brain drain here (only old CSRS folks sticking around, doing nothing all day)

I agree up to a point. However, we have almost no CSRS folks and most people at my agency seem to work pretty hard. However, it is disheartening to never really get ahead and to see more of the same on the horizon. If they make cuts to the FERS pension - I'm out of here.

Is this in discussion? If so, I need to brush up my resume. My husband keeps asking me why do I stay. I have stayed because my current job has allowed for flexibility in getting my kid to appointments. However if FERS is tinkered with, it tips the scale in a negative direction for staying.

I have heard it mentioned by the GOP at times in the past. They would like us to contribute more I believe. I'm sure they'd really like to gut it but not sure that would pass.

Actually Obama cut it by requiring new hires to contribute a lot more. So it isn't just the GOP!
