For those (like me) who don't like front garages, is this design OK?

I generally don't like front-loading garages, but this one seems fine. Agree with other PPs that it'd be nice to have the door a bit more forward and a deeper porch - to fit furniture and/or porch swing at the end.

Personally, I'd still probably go for a detached garage in the back though. Or even no garage, depending on the neighborhood.

^ and I like the floorplan - seems like a good layout

It's nice except there is no eat in kitchen and no direct route from kitchen to dining. I would integrate the dining area into the kitchen and maintain a divide between living room and rest of house. You could keep it as a formal living room, or make it an office. But having to go around that wall every time you want to put a meal on the table for your family will drive you crazy. I like the exterior and the upstairs.

cute house, but I agree- I don't see a kitchen eating area. Maybe you could detach the garage, stick it in the back side yard and then use the garage space for living space?

You mean, you the mirror image of the kitchen area, so that the kitchen wall is adjacent to what they call family room, right?

Major negatives , One car garage, small bedrooms and first door laundry

Op here. I am thinking of 1) a narrow lot (50 feet or so) and 2) the fact that I hate front garages. So a detached (two car) garage in the back would be better, in your opinion?

I like it! There is something to be said for a house being practical/functional.But I agree, I am not a fan of the front garage at all. I really like the way the house you posted looks. It stays practical but looks nice too! I would definitely be good with this design.

PP here. You could also change the garage door to make it look nicer. Like using nice wood or something. I have seen some really attractive garage doors.

I'm not a fan. Like another poster said I don't like the front door tucked so far back. I also don't like there being so many dimensions to the house.

Very little counter space, and isn't one of the reasons people want an attached garage that it makes bringing in groceries easier? This layout doesn't do that.

+1. I was thinking the same thing.

Not OP, but you really can't see the value of having hundreds of other people providing feedback based on their own experiences?

Yes.
Would never pay new home/land price and not have laundry on the bedroom level.

TINY bedrooms.
Have you ever been in a 10x10 room?
