Anyone still actually STUFF the turkey?

Anonymous
Op, here, glad we aren't the only ones who stuff. I see it all over the news and articles...pooh on them; bring on the stuffing!

You won't get sick if you cook it to temp and then by definition overlook your bird. Ergo dry turkey.

Anyone else still stuff? Or is my family doomed?

I remember Alton Brown/Good Eats doing a version where you wrap the stuffing in cheesecloth, so that you can pull it out and put it in a dish then bake it to safe temp when the bird is done.

I really think that is only an issue if you stuff a partially frozen bird. if your bird is properly thawed and you adjust time for stuffing you should be A-OK.

Oh how I miss the taste of stuffing inside the bird. Sadly, my DD was diagnosed with Celiac disease 5 years ago and we have not made it that way since.

DH lives for stuffing--doesn't even really like turkey. So yes, for us it'll be the main attraction.

We make our entire thanksgiving meal GF.

You're not supposed to because it dries your turkey out. All that juice and flavor that gets into the stuffing should stay in the bird. Add the ground up giblets to the stuffing for flavor.

No, never. My grandmother's stuffing (dressing, I guess) is awesome in a pan.

Yes - just check temp with a meat thermometer for safety

Or you can take the stuffing out when the turkey is at 165 degrees, put the stuffing in dish and pop it back in the oven until it reaches 165 too.

No. Got sick one year. So always make it outside now.
